Lance 2ballzStrong wrote:I didn't search for the thread that a dude made with a video proving the aiming is broken. To be more specific, the "cone of fire" is the literally the size of a pixel. Logibro passed through I think saying something about telling the devs... but yeeeeaaaaa, after that not a word from anyone about it.
So here's 1.7, not a word from any dev about fixing the broken mechanic. Maybe 1.8? I don't think CCP understand the frustration people go through knowing their weapon is broken beyond belief, and there's no ETA on a fix. No rush, it's only a broken weapon that the masses don't use.
Would bet if it was the AR that fix would have been patched in a week.
You're stupid. That video didn't prove that the HMG was broken, it only proved that the aiming reticule provided in the game was wrong! Instead of providing you with a "spray and pray" lazy shooter weapon they gave you a super accurate automatic heavy weapon. Learn what the REAL characteristics of the weapons in this game ARE and replace your imaginary misconceptions about them, then use them to better effect.

Lance 2ballzStrong wrote:Soooo having a pixel to aim with is not broken? And you call me stupid? How about you become R.E.L.E.V.A.N.T. before calling someone names Oh btw, the HMG is suppose to have a cone of fire aka, bullet spread. The video also proved there's no bullet spread. "Knowing is half the battle"
WOW, you still don't get it do you?
It doesn't matter what any "intent" was. What matters is how it works! Yes, the video proves there is no spread, does that mean it's broken? NO. It is very accurate, so use that to your advantage and stop trying to use it for the non-existent spray that is not there. And what is your beef with a pixel? An aiming sight is an aid in aiming. It doesn't matter if it's a pixel, a plus sign, an x, a square, a circle, a set of lines that snake into the distance, or whatever... Learn to use it correctly and you can hit the target every time.
Yes knowing is part of the battle, but in this case you know that the HMG is not a spray and pray weapon, but insist that it should be... I call that insanity.

Most great heavies have moved on to the rifle brigade As long as Im in a heavy suit, I will be carrying either a HMG or a Forge, thats the way of playing a heavy if you ask me.
Good for you, but I feel for the heavies as there is still only one race's version to choose from and only two races' weapons to choose from and they don't even MATCH!
Amarr Heavy suit - No Amarr Heavy Weapon (assumed to be a heavy laser) no Minmatar Heavy suit - HMG is the Mimatar Heavy weapon no Caldari Heavy suit - Forge Gun is the Caldari Heavy weapon no Galente Heavy suit - no Galente Heavy weapon (assumed to be a blaster)
This is the real reason that trying to be Heavy suit operator sucks, you are limited to choices that make no sense.

Actually I talk worse than that to my friends. the better I know someone the more 'comfortable' I am in letting them know how I really feel. |

The HMG since the day of it's inception has always been defined as a weapon with a large cone of fire designed to damage several people at once. This isn't something that we think it should be, this is what we have been told by CCP that it should be.
Well until they actually change it, it remains to be a highly accurate, high damage, close range weapon.

George Moros wrote:So, let's use an (exaggerated) analogy to see how insanely pointless your arguments really are. Suppose CCP changes the HMG by making it work exactly like a sniper rifle. You know, semi-automatic, high damage, extremely long range, high power scope but no hipfire aiming reticule etc. And while all the mechanics of the HMG are actually that of a sniper rifle, CCP insists that it is in fact, a HMG (it looks like a HMG, after all). So, of course, people start complaining and whining that HMG isn't working as intended (or at least, as any intuitive reasoning would expect it to work). And your reply to them would be - "It doesn't matter what any "intent" was. What matters is how it works!" ?
Really?
Yes really.
EVE and now DUST have this one thing in common. Items, functions, tool, etc in (and sometimes outside of) the game are just that... tools for the players to determine how and when to put to best usage. If an HMG is a better sniper rifle, then guess what weapon snipers will end up using? Similarly, there is an option to add players to your contacts list and then see when they log in or not. In EVE you don't put your friends in this list, you put your war targets in this list... Then when they log in you know it and can either take precautions to be more careful or to track them down and kill them. It's a mechanic to let you keep track of your "friends" but it makes a much better tool to keep intel on your enemies.
It doesn't matter how a game mechanic works, it just matters that you use it to your advantage.

George Moros wrote:I am very well aware of the fact that in EVE, contact lists and local chat channels, are used as intel tools, and not for comms. However, even in EVE, you don't have autocannons that work like beam lasers. And if autocannons were made to work like beam lasers (for whatever reason), the ensuing shitstorm on EVE forums would be spectacular.
And all the while during that shitstorm, those EVE players with autocannons would be reaping all the tears in the game.

LMFAO lol...wonder how you would feel if the AR was broken and not working as intended. You guys were the biggest babies in Chromosome crying at the HMG "OMG I CAN'T 1V1 A HEAVY! HMG IS OP!!!" Uprising: "LOL YOU HEAVIES CRYING! YOUR GUN IS FINE!"
There's broken and UNUASBLE and then there is broken but still useful. Many are trying to claim that the HMG is useless and thus broken. I'm claiming that it is broken, but that makes it still useful just not how everyone assumes it should be. |
