so ccp. if we are getting no ISK gain from Factional Warfare, then how will tax work? will there be a LP tax so the whole corp has a standing with a certain faction? will this cause mercs to be ISK broke? if so, then why has the trade and sell market not come out yet? we could buy LP items and sell them to merc who do PUB matches. that could make a profit. i really don't know this could all work out, but i would be grateful if they came out with the trade and sell market. good luck ccp.

When the player market is online you will be able to sell your Faction gear for ISK. Until then you will need to run instant battles or PC.

I'm certainly not down with taxing LP... HOWEVER, having a corp build up standing with a faction is a nifty idea. You could set it up so that the higher standing your corp the individuals get a slight bump of LP in FW matches. Hmmm. |

In EvE corp standings are applied based on the standing of each member, this doesn't affect much apart from being able to actually join but the more you know I guess.

Per the devblog, you run pub matches.

^This. Then the members of corps who are dedicated to one faction will get an extra bonus.... I like.
Point of note: what about EVE corps that already have FW standings?

yeah. this would be great. maybe lvl 1 corp standing you get 25 more LP then the ones who dont have standings. lvl 2=50 lvl 3=75 lvl 4=100 lvl 5=125 and so on to lvl 10
maybe they could lvl up the corp standing every 50 corp member wins

Wow, while that is ok, I fear for the corps that got formed by people supporting opposing factions. As long as corp standings don't counter personal ones this is ok. But if corp standings affect personal ones negatively, then a lot of players are gonna get screwed...

Incentivizing activity with positive effects is WAY more effective than putting constraints on activities you don't want.
If we want a deeper EVE link (particularly with no economic link to EVE yet) then FW is the way we are doing this...you want more guys hitting FW matches, gaining and spending LPs, which in turn drives them to pub matches to get ISK to fund FW.
Individuals get standings, then so should Corps and the trick is to make the standings mean something but not totally subsume the concept of the mercenary - fighting for the highest bidder OR ideals/faction of your choosing.

I've thought of this since I'm actually one of those guys you are referring to. My toon is gallente, purely by accident during character creation, but I game identify with Caldari and run pure caldari set ups (Rail Rifle - Woot!!). OSG and Covert Intervention are serious Gallente FW players in Dust and EVE...we NEVER go with out OB support. This puts me in the postion of really not being able to take advantage of the LP store to the fullest.
My solution to that is to make contacts with Caldari and Amarr FW players and we work out trade agreements that we can fulfill when the player trading system drops in the next couple months. I'll probably not spend a lot of LPs till that happens and when it does I will work deals such as 50x Federation Specialist ARs from the Gallente store and trade them for 50x State Specialist RRs. |

If we use EVE as an example...
The LP will not be taxed. The LP can be combined with a small amount of ISK to purchase Faction Gear to sell at a high markup. FW Corps, like all PvP focused corps, will have to have players that focus on ISK gathering. In EVE, miners and ratters, in DUST, pubbers... and hopefully PvEers

There is a current problem with having faction standings for a corp which is that if that corp in an alliance with an Eve corp, then the Eve side corp with take a standings hit as well.
Fine if the Eve corp is FW based, problematic if not. Travelling through enemy empire space to provide OB support in Molden Heath.
Faction standings for Dust corps is going to make it far more difficult for a Dust corp to participate in FW and PC. CCP want to expand the opportunities for Corps in Dust, not curtail them. When the link is more established and contracts for OB work can given and other similar mechanics in place, then maybe. But not for now.

The straight truth of FW is that eventually, only the better portion of the community will/should find FW profitable in the long term. And even then, until there is a player traded market, they can't play FW exclusively and expect to make any isk.
You aren't entitled to whatever profit you feel is fair in this game. You have to earn your profits in the way the respective environment allows it. FW will be more competitive than public matches while PC will be more competitive than FW. |
