This may make Scouts more useful, but wouldn't be good for CCP's idea about making your character how you want them. If I can't put a Scanner on my Logi, then how does that support their idea?

I think that scouts should have better scan precision, a game mechanic that needs fixin, half the time its dodgy, not showing people through certain objects, when surely passive scan runs of the same kinda technology as active scanners. Considering they are meant to scout, maybe team radar is turned on for scouts, so they can do their job scouting the enemy.
I do believe that the cloak should be scout only tho.

Active Scanners should all have a small increase to their precision rating (yes, this means a nerf, because higher = bad).
Scout suits specifically (NOT Light Frame in general) should get a built-in fixed value buff to Scanner effectiveness, AND training Scanner skills should also have a % Precision per level bonus. A Scout suit - ANY Scout suit - with max Scanning skills - NOT necessarily max SCOUT SUIT skills though - should have the same precision numbers we have now - or at least close enough to it.
If there's less than 1dB difference between your Profile and the Scanner's Precision rating, they should get the "Some Margin Of Error" message.
Scouts should also have the highest radius for passive scanning, even against other Light Frame suits.
A Spec Ops suit could be released with its own unique buff to Cloaks (maybe a reduction in the "shimmer" effect while moving) and a naturally SLIGHTLY lower Profile value than Scouts, making it possible to JUST slip under the Precision of the 28dB Scanner without modules (but you still need them for the 15dB).
Also, Light Frame suits should have lore added to explain that ALL Light Frames have a TACNET link built in, and as such, their scan data (both passive AND active) is shared with the entire team - non-Scouts with Scanners should only share with the squad. |

Yes. Scouts only. It should be that way. Scouts need love. Everybody is just scanning away now since you now get WPs for painted targets killed (which I knew would happen and spoke against).
Since scouts are described as the ones who move behind enemy lines, hack objectives, and bring out uplinks...why not? It fits the description. Along with a cloaking device...oo wee...the scouts might be seriously dangerous. But that's good. Scouts need love and recognition for their position.
But if that happens, prepare yourself for the Scouts are OP/Scout Spamming complaint threads.

After making changes so you have to have your scanner out to use it, scouts get a unique buff in that they equip their side arm at the same time.
Making scouts only suit of defending its self, while broadcasting scan data. et voila

I love when the scouts scan. This particular logi is usually too busy to find the time for it. Even with 4 slots in my proto Minlogi I rarely find room for a scanner. OR rather, between providing the squad with uplinks and repair hives, resurrecting the fallen, repairing the damaged and using my core focused to buff my slayers into super slayers as often as possible, I can't find the time to scan reliably. Theres just too much time when I can't be scanning. |
