To be fair, 1.7 has been touted as "THE PATCH TO SHAKE VEHICULAR COMBAT TO ITS CORE". We then get a dev blog about FW updates and now, all of a sudden, this is the FW patch.

As far as I can see, the Dev Blog is not the patch notes. Just one part of it. CCP did confirm already that 1.7 will see the coming of vehicle rebalancing. Hell, they even mentioned that 1.7 will see vehicle users get a respec.
CCP, thank you for hotfixing the knives. But please make sure they're at their full potential in 1.7.
