Because even if you lose you still gain loyalty points. If you lose a factional contract you should earn 0 loyalty points so its a much more intense batte. It actually encourages people to use proto gear instead of proto stomping new players in public matches

Actually it states that you get significantly less LP if you lose. More incentive to win in FW than in Pubs

If this logic were accurate it would apply even more so to public games. It clearly doesn't.

I don't think it should be zero.
Just like anything you should get paid on performance. If two or three guys did well on the losing side they should get paid.
If not then you'll have people just quit at the first sign of difficulty.
Again if it were team deploy I don't think you'd have the same issue because there is corp pride involved.
The more I think about the more pissed I get that there isn't team deploy.
Remove time in battle from ISK payout formula and provide a bonus to winning team... Watch battles become fun again.

OMG are you dumb!
Look at this graph here:

You will see that there is a HUGE difference between LPs earned for winning and for loosing. So if you think this game is a grind now, you w3ill be grinding away for ages in loosing matches to get nowhere really fast on that graph. Only through winning will you actually accrue enough FW levels fast enough to get to the "real paydays" at level 7 and above. Hell you have to win 70 matches to even get to a point where a loss will earn you anywhere near 1000 LPs at like level 7. When instead at that level if you win you get over 10,000 LPs! hell at level 10 you could be earning over 30,000 LPs for a win!
If you never win a match then you never advance in standings level as shown on this chart and graph:

So in the end you have to win at some point to even get any amount of LPs to be viable for any of the FW rewards.
So loosing earns you like 1/10 or less than if you won and it's still not enough to encourage grinding losses to farm the FW gear.

I know that lower fitting costs are attractive to me as a scout, and the specialist gear is stated to have that. If the balance of the LP economy works this will be great.
