When your team is getting rolled and things look hopeless, it can be very bad for morale, and bad morale in this match can carry into the next match. If you canGÇÖt figure out a plan for a comeback, then something like choosing a single Objective to defend and try to hold at least that point will give your squad a task that they can focus on and have some hope of achieving. This is really important for new SLs to understand and overcome. When things start going bad, then coms start getting quiet, which makes things get worse, because there is no longer any communication between squad members -- it becomes a self-fueled downward spiral. When a SL recognizes this is happening, it's important to speak up and break it. As SL you need to be the one talking, especially when things get bad -- even something as simple as saying, "Hey I'm out, who else is out also?", and then all determining where you should all spawn in next. Don't be afraid to change gears, even if it turns out it was a bad idea -- the worse option is to stay silent. If you get redlined, then setting smaller goals is a good idea -- "Hey, let's trying and hold just this one objective, ok guys?", or "Hey, I wanna kill that one tanker by the end of the match, who's with me?". Most of the time, your other mercs will go along with you.

A lot of Squad Leaders have trouble with this, so donGÇÖt be self conscious about it. Whenever an orbital appears, it should be common practice that it be called it out verbally by whoever sees it -- one word, just "Orbital" or "Strike", as a friendly reminder. They are too easy to miss, and also forget about. And forgetting to put the donut on someone (the Defend order) is easy to forget as well. If the donut was on you, it's helpful to say when you go down, so the SL can put it back up, on you or someone else.
