I realize that the game has evolved in terms of pacing, and I think this is a negative aspect.
Back in Replication, until the E3 build, the hit detection was off, and suits had a lot more HP than they do now. Heavy suits would easily reach 2-3k HP and this meant that the pacing was more strategic and focused on both skills and wits.
No longer did getting the jump on a person mean a free kill, you needed to actually try to fight someone, and 1 on 1's felt epic and longer.
So, now that technically the game's not as much of a mess as before, I think we need to head back into the direction that CCP originally intended.

Maybe not double, but if they did do this it should be no more than +50% IMO.

I see where you are getting at, but trust me when I say that increasing HP is the worst thing you could possibly do.
This would be a serious problem for niche weapons such as The Laser Rifle, Sniper Rifle, and Mass Driver. These weapons are balanced along the margins of HP, meaning if we were to increase total HP, we would effectively make these weapons into waterguns.
The real problem however, lies within semi-automatic weapons such as the Assault Rifle and Scrambler Rifle.

Not to mention, there would be no point in using anything but proto.

I don't think there is anything wrong with semi-automatic AR's i.e the TAC, its been nerfed already. |

I'm on the side of more hitpoints. This is a squad game. All 1 on 1 should be a fairly hard battle... no single kill shots. However, the glory and fun come when you are in a squad... perhaps calling out primary and secondary targets.
I think a doubling of hitpoints is a great idea. if you are worried that your weapon won't have as much of an effect anymore, well... that's the point, tbh.

I think the assault rifle type weapons probably just need to be toned down a bit if every body's looking for a TTK increase, this would be the easiest way to go for CCP. Bu if it is done it needs to be done very very very very delicately, in steps. You hear that CCP back away from the nerf hammer. Anh, I see you eyeballin' that thing, I mean it don't you even think about it.

I understand what you are trying to do however increasing hitpoints across the board requires that you rebalance every. Thing.
Niche weapons Alpha damage weapons Ammo reserves per weapon Hitpoint module bonuses Hit point regen amount
Or we could start by slightly lower the damage of automatic weapons and see what happens

It's not the HP, its the weapon damage, and how many bullets are fired accurately, bullet spread is to compact at range, AR, SCR do to much damage. Doubling the current HP, will do what the last mini HP buff did, hurt weapons that require accuracy to work, currently snipers are not snipers, they are long range jack russels. A headshot from a sniper should be a feared moment in a game, right now I find myself just saying "******* snipers!!" hen continuing what i was doing. The AR needs its damage brought down a bit, and bullet spread worse over range, SCR needs to do less to armor, currently theres not a noticable different when shooting shield or armor, SMG range needs bringing down, I have killed people at 60m with my SMG. The AR and SMG need more kick also, they are a joke atm.
Grenades also need a big time nerf, both in performance and ability to spam. I think 2 nades per suit, refil at supply depot only, People mainline them over guns these days. As for damage, I think the shield should be able to defuse nade damage, I have had a caldari suit with over 700ehp 1 hit by a milita due to the bullshit maths they made them with. I would like to see grenades do -50% damage to shields, whats the point in flux if locus grenades just do the same to shield tanked players, aswell as hurt armor tanked players? The game is a mess, kinda hoping 1.7 might clear some stuff up, not gunna happen tho, Wrong things get nerfed nearly everytime, CCP will never balance something by balancing other items to par.

Notice something horrifically wrong with this? It's the AR functioning as an automatic sniper rifle with ~50-60 dmg per bullet.
The solution isn't 'more hitpoints', it's adding dispersion and kick to weapons that somehow no longer have *any* dispersion when aiming down sights or simply firing less than 30 shots. The lack of dispersion and kick means *every shot hits and does damage*, causing *anyone* to die in under 1 second of fire and allowing these weapons to perform well outside their intended ranges. |

I agree, that is why the Thale should be proto weapon and not officers. Also give the LR and MD a 10% buff and adjust from there.

That's a decent idea, but some of these other mercs are right about the niche weapons. Their utility is offset by clipsize, reload, and other things. I have been in plenty of reload dances, so I would say most clips would need to be increased by the same percentage as the hitpoints.

The ole' shotgun's already having a tough time keeping up with MedFrame HP levels. It's fire rate is too low to actualize role advantage; we're firing at a a measly 1 blast / second.
Double HP levels and you'll have a useless weapon on your hands. Not that CCP gives a d*mn. If it isn't a rifle, it isn't a factor. Starting to wonder why I give a d*mn. |

This. For Laser Rifle users an HP doubling means overheat anytime you try to kill anyone. And I don't want to think about Gallente armor tankers...
