People mock the Commando now, but the sheer problem it currently has is not the lack of slots, but the lack of complimenting weaponry. We have a lot of shield killer weapons out in play these days, so armor tanking is the thing to do. Using anti-shield weapons against armor is inefficient. The Commando can hold two light weapons.
It's the Lolmando for now, but I am looking forward to wearing the suit that kills all infantry efficiently.
(My favorite thing with the Lolmando for now is the "bait 'n' ****". Lure them in with something like Laser Rifle and then riddle them full of holes with something close range.)

I ninja on the basic heavy frame a lot with Nova Knives, so I'm sort of used to being "The Loud Ninja". Commando just takes a lot more effort to sneak around with. Sometimes I don't sneak. Sometimes I just throw some blueberries out into the fire to take the aggro while my ****** moves to flank. (I've been called merciless by my allies before.  )
I can see why people don't like the Commando- it's barebones at the standard level and people don't like that. They want their two+ Complex Damage Modifiers and two+ armor plates with two+ armor reppers and all that jazz. I've always said that the Commando was the most threatening suit to have on the field- not because of what it has in its slots, but what it can have in its hands. To use the Commando, you must throw away all dependencies to modules. I feel that using prof'd weapons makes up for the lack of damage mods.
People say the scout is hardmode. I smile a little whenever I punch one to death with the Commando, because that scout knows that I'm large, I'm loud, and I'm one slow ************.
