1.) With any noob i encounter i always tell them to buy their stuff from the militia market including dropsuits and modules so they can get a feel for the game and what they want to do with it. with no skills required and cheap to fit, you can experiment with fittings and try out different weapons. although some weapons like massdriver dont have a militia variant so u need to dump some sp into lvl 1 before u can use it. but hey its only a small sp investment
2.) Once you've settled into a playstyle. Then start by reading and absorbing the skill tree and the different bonuses each dropsuit, dropsuit upgrades, and weapons skills provide...some of them have passive bonuses that benefit you regardless of the suit or weapons u use.
3)Just like in Eve be sure not to neglect your dropsuit upgrades skill tree as they provide a universal benefit to your dropsuits especially electronics and powergrid. this will allow you to have better options in terms of fitting you dropsuit. not only do u need they skills to be able to put on the suit but also the skillpoints to use it to its full potential.
4.) Once you find a favorite suit/ weapon/ playstyle .....considering going into advanced (lvl 3) with it. It will provide you with increased performance to be competitive (unless your getting protostomped). DO NOT GO PROTOTYPE (lvl 5) until u know what your doing. respecs dont come often and you will have to live with your decision.
5.) If you want to use the mass driver, it gives bonus damage to armor, so invest in lvl 1 flux grenades (learn to cook grenades also) as they take out ALL dropsuit shields within its radius. this allows you to 1-2 shot shield tanked enemies with the massdriver for hilarious results.
6.) Being a logi guy means investing sp into equipment as well. Scanners, Uplinks, Nanohives are the best to use and give your team a good advantage not to mention you will earn alot of warpoints in a match which influences the isk and sp you gain at the end of the match.
This is it for now if you have any other questions feel free to add me to your contacts and send me a mail.......also im up for squadding |

I actually have a suggestion for the logi in training. If your having issues with dying often I have a beautiful training tip. Buy a few dozen militia light dropsuits and play in them until your used to surviving in them. When you switch to your logi you will have more armor and shielding to help you. When i switch out to another account I feel like a god cause I can actually take a hit!

Fellow logi bro here.
For equipment focus on drop uplinks, nano hives, repair tools, and active scanners. Needles are nice, but the opportunity to use them are few and far between, so I'd suggest using the above before a needle.
Links: these are very important, I'd suggest getting at least to 4, but get 5 eventually. I have a dedicated logi suit fitted with 3 different links and can throw a total of 6 at a time (max is 9). They allow your team to spawn anywhere you place them, which will rack up tons of points for you and a tactical advantage for you team. Lean to place them in appealing and safe spots for teammates to spawn to.
Hives: very important as well, get to 5 ASAP, at lease 4. These resupply and/or repair armour, good for points and helping the team. The best places for hives are in places where you're holding a position. Triage hives are amazing. My PC fit has two and when you throw two together, that's 140 hp/sec. Over a 7m radius area.
Rep Tool: the Core Focused repair tool is you heavy's best friend. At 177 reps a second, there's nothing killing that guy anytime soon. I'd highly recommend getting it very soon, but get at least level 3 or 4 for the triage tool (forget about the vehicle repairs).
Scanners: also important, as is everything else. I always have a quantum scanner on my fits because the tactical advantage is so nice. Level 3 should be enough for most cases. |

One quick point, I love the MD and I run it on a logi, but if you're determined to have that sidearm, the Amar logi is the only one with a sidearm slot.

Quick tip for you, duplicate your Frontline starter fit and buy some militia reppers to fit on it, do the same with nanohives and uplinks. Get used to running these suits all the time. This will give you a decent feel for logistics and survivability. Once you've figured out which piece of equipment you favor, explore that equipment paired with all the racial militia med frames. This will help you figure out what you prefer, speed (Minmatar), tank (Gallente), fast regen (Caldari), or a balance(Amar).
You really need to figure out your racial suit before you invest in upgrades so you can maximize investment of SP, e.g. shield upgrades for Caldari. Try to advance equipment then upgrades and lastly your suit. Only advance items 1 tier above your suit, i.e. Std. suit with Adv. equipment, this will help you to balance investment vs. reward. It does you no good to fit only proto equip with std suit and upgrades, you'll keep losing that proto equip because of low survivability. Lastly, FORECAST, you may not need the CPU upgrade at your current level, but will you need it for next tier equipment? Don't just blindly invest in CPU/PG, you'll need them eventually, but do you need them before armor plates to live longer, or better equip to get the job done better?
Not new, just new to you.

amarr logi is your only option if you want a side-arm, so that's easy.

The Mass Driver is an interesting weapon but is a challenge to use on a logistics suit when it is your only weapon. I started that way and did OK but too often you'll find yourself out by your lonesome self with a squad of reds heading your way and you'll hear the *click*, *click*, *click* of your empty weapon.
I'd recommend putting at least one level into a rifle and use that to start with on your logistics. With some skill the SMG makes an excellent shorter range weapon that really shines at close range.

Immortal Guides is the basic training Corp for Learning Coalition. That would be a good choice if this is your first character. If you have more experience, 1.5 mil Skill Points and a mic you can apply to BojoGÇÖs School of the Trades. If you choose to go with a different Corp, you can still get in game help and advice by joining the Learning Coalition chat channel.
