1.) With any noob i encounter i always tell them to buy their stuff from the militia market including dropsuits and modules so they can get a feel for the game and what they want to do with it. with no skills required and cheap to fit, you can experiment with fittings and try out different weapons. although some weapons like massdriver dont have a militia variant so u need to dump some sp into lvl 1 before u can use it. but hey its only a small sp investment

2.) Once you've settled into a playstyle. Then start by reading and absorbing the skill tree and the different bonuses each dropsuit, dropsuit upgrades, and weapons skills provide...some of them have passive bonuses that benefit you regardless of the suit or weapons u use.

3)Just like in Eve be sure not to neglect your dropsuit upgrades skill tree as they provide a universal benefit to your dropsuits especially electronics and powergrid. this will allow you to have better options in terms of fitting you dropsuit. not only do u need they skills to be able to put on the suit but also the skillpoints to use it to its full potential.

4.) Once you find a favorite suit/ weapon/ playstyle .....considering going into advanced (lvl 3) with it. It will provide you with increased performance to be competitive (unless your getting protostomped). DO NOT GO PROTOTYPE (lvl 5) until u know what your doing. respecs dont come often and you will have to live with your decision.

5.) If you want to use the mass driver, it gives bonus damage to armor, so invest in lvl 1 flux grenades (learn to cook grenades also) as they take out ALL dropsuit shields within its radius. this allows you to 1-2 shot shield tanked enemies with the massdriver for hilarious results.

6.) Being a logi guy means investing sp into equipment as well. Scanners, Uplinks, Nanohives are the best to use and give your team a good advantage not to mention you will earn alot of warpoints in a match which influences the isk and sp you gain at the end of the match.
