To anyone who's having the pleasure of playing it, Kill Zone 4 is by for the most balanced game your going to see. It's also the most bare bones FPS since the 1990's. lol.
*similar to the console it plays on*
Yes, and that's why I love it. You get the hearty meal, with now plenty of room for dessert to come. Anyway The cloak debate has been going in dust since beta. Many want it role classed, and others want it as a module.
IMO is should just be for scouts. For everything a scout lacks, this would greatly make up. No other role needs it. maybe except to just troll other players.
*heavy with cloak...*
lol. anyway, when looking at cloak and how should it be implemented and out of many FPS games out there with that ability, by far KZ does it well.
Here is a vid of your truly playing KZ4 with scout fitting. Surt Gods End. Tha last of the ninja cowboys. |

Lol mediums and heavy's that can cloak...lmao yeah that will balance the game. Scouts really need something to make up for the lack of health and slight difference in speed. A medium suit can do the same job of a scout but with more health and it shouldn't be that way. I still use my scout suit though because its fun but it needs something to counter being sprayed down with an AR/Scrambler rifle 5 miles away in seconds. If any other suit can use it...whats the point in being a scout?

The amount of hyperbole in this opening statement is staggering. It's like a 14 year old wrote this statement.
No it isn't, and no it isn't.
Support kills everything while raising his team like a necromancer, scout sometimes gets lucky, and assault is pretty much useless outside of beacon capturing.
If you want a bare bones FPS, look to quake or CS. There is NOTHING complicated going on there. |

What about just making it way stronger for scouts?
I want to use my Gallante Medium.Frame as a scout too! It really is just a huge scout.

How many times in vid you saw me die from support? dude if you see that drone, or turrent and still think it's gonna ignore you then who fault is it? KZ2 and KZ3 were the same. But drones make KZ... KZ. Is it annoying to take out some person 3 times cause his ass got revived 3 times? Yup. But that why you Double tap.
*takes more then just double tap to finish a downed player.. just saying.*
Yeah, and scan could be increased a bit. But the game has NO IN GAME CHAT. NO CLAN SYSTEM. NO SQUAD SYSTEM. Hell it even doesn't have no proxy chat which was in the previous KZ games. But its a mash potatoes FPS game. And mash potatoes can be your friend.
*ha! weird al...*
heh.. anyway, I play only scout and AS. How many times do I die from support? (the heavy mixed with logi of this game) not as much as I die from other AS. You got shield and buddy drone himiko! lol Sounds more like your team mates aren't pulling their weight to cover your sides. |

I'd much rather implementation like that, but tied to an Equipment module that required you to holster your weapons. That way you'd have unlimited cloak duration, compensated for by a slight delay before you can kill your target. That's how Blacklight: Retribution did it, but this KZ4 cloak seems better.

Why not both? Make it an inbuilt feature of Scouts, but make a weakened version available as a module/equipment as well. That way everyone can cloak, but Scouts do it 2x better than anyone else.

Make cloaks available to everyone. The ability to detect someone who is cloaked should be based on your scan precision. If they have a profile lower than your precision, you cannot see them, or they are only a shimmer. If you beat their scan profile, they are either marked with a red arrow, or they are slightly translucent, or something visual to let you know they have a cloak on.
Scouts get the most use, with a low scan profile, and gives scouts the best ability to see someone whose cloaked, giving them two roles with one module. As well, profile dampeners are still useful, as the lower your profile, the harder you are to be detected through your cloak. |

Cloaking should work similar to EVE.
Cloaks should take up an equipment slot. There should be 2 varieties, the basic variety which any suit can fit and will cloak you indefinitely as long as you donGÇÖt move your feet (you can still look in 360 degrees). It should have heavy CPU/PG requirements, and some other significant drawback (such as reducing the base movement speed of any suit with a basic cloak equipped). You could theoretically have a Minmatar logi with the basic cloak sitting on an objective, standing still, waiting for the enemy team to move on to the next objective before decloaking and re-capping the objective.
The other cloak is designed for Scout suits. Scout cloaks are also equipment slots, but these can be used while moving (although it should reduce the movement speed while cloaked). You get the GÇ£predatorGÇ¥ invisibility effect when in motion, the faster you move the easier this should be to spot. So walking slowly in a scout suit with a Scout cloak should make you nearly invisible. You are always completely invisible when standing still. Scout suits will have a 99.5% CPU/PG reduction to fitting scout cloaks, making them the only suits that can mathematically fit them, since the CPU/PG will be too high for any non-bonused suit to fit them.
Several things can decloak you: Using a weapon/equipment/etc. getting within x meters of another player/vehicle (friendly or enemy) who isnGÇÖt cloaked, getting within x meters of a supply depot, CRU, turret, nanohive etc., taking damage. Once you decloak you cannot recloak for x seconds (30 seconds?) and perhaps training up the cloaking skill can reduce this amount by 5%/level or something. You may also not be able to fire your weapon for x seconds after decloaking (thatGÇÖs how it works in EVE more-or-less).
There could also be a deployable equipment module that will decloak anything within an x meter radius (5-10m ?) until itGÇÖs destroyed. Also it would be cool if there was a version of the proto active scanner that could detect cloaked suits, but wouldnGÇÖt do anything else. It would have a narrow band, and limited range, with a significant cool down.
Cloaks should be expensive (maybe like 100K+ ISK for STD), and skill intensive (maybe requiring profile damps 5) and both varieties will have the STD/ADV/PRO progression which would make them better in some way.

My other fitting in KZ is AS. Cause of the buddy drone. For help against other AS? Support? No, lets face it AS is still king in many FPS games. I bring out my drone to cover my blind spots against cheeky scouts like me. The drones detect cloaked scouts, tho a good scout will reach you around your drone or before your drone can save you.
If cloaking becomes something that is shared. Then what a about a specific holo clone of yourself just for scouts? It leaves a mirror image of you in static position for a set time. giving the impression that your there when you actually aren't. Maybe it could be combined with the cloak for a scout to escape death situations?
eh.. just my two cents.
anyway, I don't fear anything in KZ. But scouts make me nervous. did I just pass one? is it behind me? is in front, not moving? cloaking would be sweet in dust.

I'd suggest that cloaks be a piece of handheld equipment. Give scouts a massive reduction in CPU requirements for using them.
I'd also go so far as to give scouts a passive cloak effect while crouching (similar to Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier).
