I dislike this auto-association between Amarr and Caldari along with Gallente and Minmatar. Just because they are allies doesn't mean they are one and the same. I for one will be fighting for Amarr and only Amarr because that is where my allegiances lie. If colleagues from Caldari State need assistance, I will lend my hand to them should I see it beneficial towards the Amarr Empire. What that boils down to is >90% of the time I will be defending the Amarr Empire.

Many people and Corporations who answered this thread are not currently fighting for the Faction they named, as I can see you fighting for the opposed factions daily.
I hope that with 1.7 you are going to stick with your favorite factions. There is no reason to say that you fight for Caldari/Amarr if you actually play all the 4 factions.
I believe the goal of this thread is to create an accurate and thruthful sign up list for our community.

I hope the FW here will be a bit more balanced than the FW in EVE itself. The key there was to avoid the Caldari Militia at all costs as no one but mission runners was in it and they got endlessly farmed by pirates/other militias. (Although I think early on they did take all the territory they could possibly take from the gallente and 'won' the war)
I see a lot more corporations signing up for the Gallente/Minmatar side so I'm just wondering.
Of course, there is also the economic aspect: many people chose their FW allegiance purely on an ISK/hr return. You could actually make good money running Caldari FW missions (in a stealth bomber) and getting those sweet sweet Caldari Navy gear to sell to wealthy mission runners. This is why Caldari FW had incredibly huge numbers but just got rolled endlessly (I was guilty of this myself, in fact)
I don't think this will be quite as much of an issue in Dust as it sounds like you will only earn those LP by shooting other players in the other factions, not farming NPC's and doing everything you can to avoid an actual player fight.
That said, I could still see an imbalance depending on what the different FW loyalty stores sell. If Caldari is all the shield stuff and shield tanking gets made useless, for example, people fighting for Caldari would be a bit out of luck. Or if Gallente was the only store you could buy a 'must have' mod for armor tanking.
Curious to see how it will play out.

This. I never attempted to hide the fact that my corporation fights for all four. I even had the OP put the names of the squads in his post. I myself fight with Caldari, but a lot of my coworkers do not.

You do know you hurt the Militia and Standard gear players with **** like this? One player hindering the better players in your own team can very well lead to your team losing. Meaning the guys you say you are fighting for would lose too, not getting LP or standing. And with getting these proto players kicked you even make it harder for the rest of the matches of the day. So sorry, but no. You fight for nobody but your own amusement, annoying everybody else while doing this. |

Problem is that apparently you are able to get all factions to Standing 10. I know FoxFour doesn't want anybody to be excluded from FW matches, but I think they really should introduce negative standings to fix that. If you fight for a faction which is negative towards you your only reward should be standing. No LP payout. This way you can still fight for everybody, but you can't get all factions to 10 at the same time anymore. |
