have anyone else realized, that orbital-strikes are one of the stupidest things ever seen in a multiplayer-game?
first of all, the better of both team gets the orbital-strikes. why they need them, because they're already better, I don't know. but the stupidest thing is, if our team try to enter a gun in skirmish, we find a strong defence and after a while, after a hard fight with tactical gaemplay we can enter the base and hack the gun. and what happened now? right, someone of the player, they loss the base puts a orbital-strike and kills our whole team of 8 or 9 people who tryed to hack the gun.
or an example 10 min. ago. we tryed to enter a gun for 10 min. it was a hard fight, after some kills we can strike them back and hack the gun. 5 sec. later, the first of 3 orbital-strikes in this area kills 90% of us. the second one kills the rest and the third one kills the revived people.
seriously, that's ******* stupid!
in some skirmish, at the end, I've experienced an opposite orbital-strike every 40 sec. the most time I get killed is by an orbital-strike. and this is a state, which may not be! |

At the moment they're just a tool for stomping squads to stomp harder.
I dislike the current orbital mechanics.
It looks like they might be improved for FW/PC though and require an EVE ship in the future.

There's talk of OBs becoming more EVE dependent in the future rather then WP gained, so if your boys up top ain't doing hot you don't get that OB no matter how good you're doing on the ground.

Try being in a match with an EvE ship above you... they rain down terror the likes of which you cannot comprehend...
Orbitals have their place in this game. Truth be told, it's a noob mood to pack together at certain points in the game, because you're asking to get rained on. Proper uplink placement and troop formation can out do an orbital.
You did good clearing out the enemy, but you got the receipt. DUST isn't all about guns and infantry. Its about total warfare. |

OB's have one balancing effect though:
It tends to clear massive rooftop camps.
Feeling the scanner is too simple and off balance?

Ever thought about NOT staying in the same spot when hacking? Send in a couple of guys to hack and the rest of you fan out ready to repel attackers is one example.

That may have been me not sure but I got 12 in an orbital the other day as they were trying to take the null cannon. But seriously I have no issue in getting one of our EVE pilots to drop the rain on you. Which type do you fancy I like hybrid. |

Okay, yeah granting OBs for success makes the winning team win even more.
How about a different approach?
Granting OBs based on opposing teams success?
I know I know it might be lame. But hey let's discuss instead of pure QQ.
