I have been seeing a lot of anti logi talk lately. And frankly this bothers me. The logi is one of the most important roles on the battlefield.
Well that got me thinking, as it is most of the ways people earn WP is through equipment use. Now the biggest problem with that is that it automatically puts logi suits at an advantage because they have many equipment slots. Unfortunately you can not add more equipment slots to the other suits because it would render the logi suit useless. You also can not remove a light weapon from the logi suit or you will have a lot of angry logis who will either quit playing dust or just switch to assault.
What I propose is that we come up with a list of ways to reward WP without the use of equipment therefore balancing WP accrual more evenly for all classes. For example savior points, revenge points. Other suggestions would be much appreciated because I for one think Logis are fine. There other suits have been at a disadvantage since the beginning.
Everyone is always so quick to jump on the nerf band wagon. I would way rather see the other suits balanced with the logi. Why should we make the logis suck just as much as the other suits when we can make the other suits just as good as the logis.
But hey what do I know.

I think the whole system of earning WP from kills should be changed.
1. 100WP per kill, distributed based on percentage of damage dealt.
If you kill someone alone you gain 100WP. If a teammates does 90% damage and you finish him off with the last 10%, you only gain 90WP, etc.
2. Clone termination should require you to melee the clone. The animation should change; you pull out a special knife or some other item to terminate the clone. This is how you gain kill WP. If the clone is not terminated, the death is NOT counted and the WP is NOT distributed.
3. Nanite Injector WP is only distributed if the dropsuit is not dropped (pun intended) again 5 seconds after the revive.
The clone termination requirement is key. Strategically, people will either camp the mercenary they just downed from cover, to prevent logibros from reviving him/her, OR risk running out to terminate the clone.

Number 2 is terrible idea, it woukd render any ranged weapon useless Although I don't think you should get pounts for a kill if their revived

These are terrible ideas. This post was to suggest possible bonus' to assault suits and new Wp rewards based around firefights. The idea is to promote more team play with these WP rewards rather than just killing.

abarkrishna wrote:Really? No one thinks this is better or has anything to contribute? That would render logi even more useless. You see, a lot of people measure a true logi by lifetime wp. If you give assault more chances at wp, then not only will that measurement be skewed, but you will see a lot more precision strikes. Tankers don't like precision strikes cuz ppl have a tendency to launch the strike on the tank. As if tankers didn't have enough things to worry about (swarm launchers, railgun/missile turrets, HAV's being so expensive, ect). The reason why people are complaining about logi isn't because of the amount of wp they are earning for supporting the team, its how much PG/CPU the suit has. Because of that, people aren't using the logi suits like they are meant to. They are using the high PG/CPU amounts to make fittings that are better than assault suits... |

I fail to see how more orbitals in a game is bad. I for one would love to see it.
But seriously how is rewarding savior/revenge kills rewarding Wp bad? If they limit it to squad mates only like they do with scanners it will encourage team work even more than it does reducing solo play. Look the simple fact of the matter is that squads win the games and solo play just ruins it. I would love to see more than just my squad getting orbitals in games. But that never happens because more often than not i get in a game and there is one full squad and a ton of 2 man squads if that.
If it is that big of a problem they could very easily slightly increase the WP cost of orbitals. (Which they are working on redesigning anyway)
Secondly how can you deny that the WP gain of a logi is tremendous compared to other classes. This is simply one step in the right direction towards the balance of all suits.
Time to kill is very short right now. (most often less than a second.) Because of that everyone wants to stack armor plates. Just because a logi can fit armor plates and equipment everyone is freaking out. Assault suits still can fit more armor than a logi. They are still faster than a logi. They even have a second gun. Why should logis all of a sudden become completely useless because the other suits do not have good bonuses.
I am asking the community for constructive bonuses that can be applied to heavies, assaults, and scouts that would bring them up to par with logis, Rather than these absolutely stupid ideas such as side arm only logis.
We all know the WP reward system is broken. Simply put rewarding any one class over any other is not balanced. Also this game is meant to reward team play and discourage solo play. By adding in rewards for squad based tactics, like the previously exampled revenge and savior points, you encourage people to join squads. There is nothing wrong with that in my eyes.

They don't just stack armor. They r using the logi for something it was meant to be (an assault suit). The aren't even using the equipment for the most part. Team playing should be encouraged though, yes and its good to hear that they r increasing wp needed for precision strikes. Trust me, you would understand if you had just deployed a over million Isk tank just to see it get blown up by a precision strike before you even got to use it. True story too. The strike blew up not only the tank, but the bolas deployment drone carrying it. The tank did even get a chance to land. Imagine how mad you would be if you wasted a million dollars on something you didn't even get a chance to use. Its kinda like when you deploy yourself in a fitting with an officer weapons, and as soon as your screen lights up, it is already playing the death tone and showing you your killer's stats (this has happened to me before too...). |

Actually I am a tanker and have had this happen a few times. And frankly I would not care. I would still love to see more orbitals.
There is nothing you can do with a logi that you can not with an assault suit. skill into PG/ CPU and all the upgrades and you will never have restrictions in an assault suit. Plus you will be faster and have a sidearm.

You can't argue the fact though that there are a lot of proto logi users racking up kills and doing no troop support at all. Heck, I've Benn surrounded by logi guys before, got incapacitated (not terminated), and not a single one had medical gear. |

So just because a few logis do not carry nanite injectors the entire class must be nerfed? Why not make every logi suit have a nanite injector come free with the suit instead. Many do not carry them because nanohives rep tools and active scanners are more important equipment than nanite injectors. This is partly because of the bug surrounding nanite injectors that happened a few months ago.
Your logic suggests we should also make heavies not able to use shotguns because that is not their role. Scouts should only be able to carry drop uplinks and active scanners. Assault suits can only carry ammo.
How much fun and customization would you see then?
The whole concept of slayer logis is ridiculous. Kills do not get you first place. Wp decides who gets first. First place gets the most money. Any player who wants to make money or have good stats is not going to only kill people. That is just closed minded stupidity.
You do not see me getting mad every time I am on a team with only one 6 man squad and 10 blueberries going solo without their mics on team speak. That can negatively impact a game just as much as people not running nanite injectors.
