Think of them more to enhance the dropsuits motions, that the dropsuit does to your body. Heres some examples what IGÇÖm thinking: The mech suit from District 9 This The Tau mech suits. Or the mech suit from Natural Selection.

For those of you who don't play EVE Online, that means modular. Figure you get 5 sub-systems with 5 options each just like in EVE. Propulsion, Engineering, Offense, Defense, and Electronics.
