I mean if the devs haven't announced anything by now, it's likely they are either scrambling unsure of what will make the update, or they are trying to cover up how little is actually in the update. |

There has always been near radio silence before patches. We've also got quite a few dev blogs over the last couple weeks.
Not seing anything out of the ordinary, compared to earlier releases.

you right radio silence before any patch in any game is common but the closer it gets the worse it will really be.
and when it comes to major updates then it's especially true.

To be fair it's been a really quite few months as far as dev interaction goes which worrys me a lot I really don't want dust to fail as I'm looking forword to rping an amarr rebel :-P

I'm not sure I see this.
Properly tested and documented features are a good idea.
They don't want to promise something that doesn't work properly or work well with other changes.
Properly written, accurate Dev blogs are respectful of the player base.
The only issue I have are my own: hope, eagerness, loss of sleep, denial, the shakes, longing and anticipation.

well theirs different forms of news, trailers promise nothing but highlight confirmed features, and a simple quote during the trailer saying nothing is finalized yet would work as well.
if the story was getting progressed that could be setup, and featured, it's been 5-6 months since we had any story progression.
maybe news of events they have planned to highlight 1.7.
setting certain rumors to rest, things like respecs for 1.7 I can pretty much guarantee has been decided and could be established with the community.
dev blogs talking about where they hope to go after 1.7, would also be nice since we pretty much have no idea what to expect after it.
theirs lots of news they can give us, while avoiding the actual patch notes, which won't come out till the night before.

The calm before the storm is normal. But I'm really hoping that part of what CCP are doing is rethinking the partial respect. Surely they've realized that they shouldn't play favourites? |

The partial respec has already been announced - it's the vehicle skill respec.
Don't expect an infantry respec till 1.8 or 1.9...essentially they need all racial dropsuits in before that respec can occur. |
