it doesn't cost much to spec basic adv assault, which should do you justice if your going the light weapon route. using an ar in a heavy wont make you very effective.

I mostly use AR on a medium suit but on the rare occasion nowadays when I bring out the heavy I stick with the HMG. It isn't too bad in very specific circumstances - defending an objective at close quarters versus lots of enemies. Even then, in its optimal situation, it only feels barely adequate, not dominant as other weapons do in their optimals.
Using an AR on a heavy suit in similar circumstances requires logi support. You only get 300 rounds, which is hopeless considering you can't carry a hive. You get 1500 rounds with the HMG, and even with bullets doing just under half the damage of AR ones, that's still effectively twice the ammo.
Of course, any situation which requires either movement or range (i.e. most situations) is death for the HMG heavy. |

Instead of the ar run a crd-9 and keep your distance.......hip fire up close and rake in kills.....most people see a heavy and treat it like its a joke until you blast their smirks off their faces |
