Even though the Proto small missile launcher will soon inflict 385 splash damage, no one made a panic thread about Assault Dropships being OP on 1.7. 
Remember that AV got nerfed and shield regen got a massive buff.

Dropships have always been UP, if they're OP, it'll be (more or less) a breath of fresh air. At least for one day.

You ever fly in Chrome? I could survive, but what was the point? No WP. Now, we're dead in seconds. Both are UP in my opinion.

I am not a good pilot but I remember when they were extremely difficult to bring down and the turrets were very OP. Had a friend go something like 80-0 gunning for a drop ship.

We will have to wait and see. Keep in mind that when AV gets nerfed, it becomes a greater necessity. 2 AVers on a team will not be enough, even in pubs. By nerfing AV, CCP creates demand, and I think that was the purpose of the nerf. To create demand rather than balance between predator and prey.
It doesn't create imbalance or OP, but it changes SOP(Standard Operating Procedure) against vehicular battalions.

That was back in closed beta. And 80-0 was nothing. I saw a 134-0 once
