Camp, Camp, Camp... If you camp an objective the enemy will always come to you, or camp some cramped space with poor line of sight.
I played two Skirmishes (I know, poor sample size) last night and I ran with an advanced Basic Heavy suit.
I just got lv5 biotic upgrades and enhanced Kin Cats so I wanted to try them out. I put one of them on with an enhanced Armor Plate and an enhanced damage mod and a basic Shield Extender. I used the MH-82(?) and did pretty well.
I didn't beast, but people tend to forget about what's behind them and I managed to get the drop on some skinny twerps.
Just saying, Heavies need to be played like Scouts that can survive proto sniper rifles.
Hide in the darkness and creep up from behind then blast away. It works for me and I'm not even that great at the game.

Meh. I'm not knocking that play style but that's not my definition of dirty. It's more fulfilling to me to creep my largeness behind enemy lines, take out some of the redline snipers then move up and get to work before I get turned on by the rest of the enemy.
Also, one aspect of the Heavy to me is to be a distraction for teammates to rush objectives. I die A LOT but I'd rather die a bunch and win than survive and lose.

Don't mistake me, I'll take any advantage I can get (That's within the limitations I place upon myself) but the LLAV isn't inconspicuous.
I like to surprise people with the last thing they'd expect which right now is a fatty that snuck up behind you, had time to dance around and then blasted away.
It's only a matter of time now for me to sneak up behind a group and eliminate them all before they realize it.

SoTa is right.
LLAV trick is the dirtiest tactic going right now.
You can hop in and out instantly, and the damn things are near indestructible.

Is it dirty or cheap?
Again, I'm not knocking that play style, I consider it as legitimate because you can still be shot out of the LLAV. And I don't buy into the eBushido so do whatever you can to win.
The way I see it if you're in an LLAV you can just bull rush the enemy line and do business, so it's playing dirty in the sense that you're momentarily virtually indestructible which is always fun.
If you sneak up behind the enemy in a Heavy suit you'd be playing dirty in the sense that you're intentionally playing with the weakness of the suit to eventually play with the strength of the suit.
And you don't have to walk to sneak up behind people. Sometimes I'll call out a dropship, fly it to the ceiling and the bail when I feel like the enemy has advanced enough to only leave snipers near their base. Or sometimes I call out my Baloch to race to an objective and ditch it before I reach my destination so that momentum carries the LAV past the objective to confuse enemies.

If you are able to sneak up behind anyone in a Heavy Suit, those players must really just suck horribly at this game.
Seriously the suit is not stealthy at all. It has the Largest Scan Profile, Lowest Scan Precision, and Lowest Scan Range of all the Suits.
It doesn't take much situational awareness at all to know that a Heavy is near by.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking you for doing what seems to work for you, I just would advise you to not expect this to work for very long, or against any decent players/corps, especially considering that nearly every squad has at least one guy/gal with an active scanner.

HMG murder taxis is part of the reason I roll "forge taxis" myself.
1. See enemy LAV 2. Make eye contact 3. Get out and charge forge 4. Enemy tries to run you down, but is blown up instead! 5. ???? 6. Profit
Or if they get out, and use my LAV as a barricade while I fire 80 rounds of SMG into their head.
I do HMG murder taxi, but all too often I see "missed opportunities" flying through the sky and find a supply depot to switch back. |

the most annoying part of having a Proto level Forge gun is this ^. going about your business, killing fools that think its cool to run up on a heavy, and you hear that noise (Tank, LAV, DS, it really dont matter) and you get that nagging feeling that you need to have the FG to kill that noise. when you dont, you are compelled to get it out. |

I play heavy on my alt, and I don't care about being scanned in a controlled area. They know I'm here, they still have to come in and get me.

Equip a shotgun if this is your preferred method. The shotgun has better hit detection and range than HMG!

I just came from a FW (that DC'd before we cloned them). 23-1 before I was kicked. One of those was a shotgun scout (which I spawned in and ultimately died in). HM-82 with a 'Dren' Scrambler Pistol brought me on a 22 streak (I had killed only two with the pistol). Whoever said the HMG is bad needs to be slapped. The thing is goddamn amazing. I guard dog'd an objective and nothing could get to the point. I was constantly scanned too, which made it better. I was actually calling in a vehicle to go out and get ammo and I was kicked. Fan-*******-tastic.
Now Scotty won't even let me into FW.
My advice is actually in the original post, though in words I wouldn't use: Use small spaces to your advantage. If they can't form a firing squad, you're at a great advantage. It'll take a Duvolle to bring you down.
My fitting was as follows:
'Dren' Sentinel A-I MH-82 Heavy Machine Gun 'Dren' Scrambler Pistol Locus Grenade (though I rarely even use this damn thing) Complex Heavy Damage Modifier Enhanced Armor Plates x2
I only have operation III in HMGs. It's kind of embarrassing to see people call the HMG bad when I was gunning down GEKs, Duvolles, GODDAMN SHOTGUNS, and Scrambler Rifles.
