1. Why? Grenades fill an important role, often AV grenades to deal with light vehicles so Assaults don't have to carry them.
2. Makes Assaults too limited. Assaults are meant to be flexible combat classes with emphasis on attack, just as Logistics is meant to be a flexible combat class with emphasis on support. Removing gear from Assaults marginalizes them too much and removes much of their effectiveness.
3. 'Scout Specific Gear'? Again tearing away flexibility is what will turn Dust into another generic, static class based system. Encourage people to play roles, but don't force them. I've seen people run Scouts as LogiLites to an amazing extent, using Non-'Scout Specific Gear'. Why should that playstyle be completely removed for them?
4. Why? If you want Scouts to use Scanners, give them bonuses to scanners in order to encourage them to be used. Again, you're just making static classes which are *boring* and like any other FPS. Everyone should be able to scan, but a Scout should get bonuses which makes them the BEST at scanning.
5. No. Like I said in the points above, Logistics is a flexible combat class with emphasis on support, they are however not COMPLETELY support. The idea that Logistics should be completely Medic/Engineer is very narrow minded and this thought process of gimping their combat effectiveness into oblivion, is simply ridiculous. There are far better ways to obtain the goal you're going for without completely terminating a Logi's combat abilities.
I see what you're trying to do, you're trying to make each class neccisary, and that is a very noble goal. However you're strongarming people into it, and that simple is not New Eden. New Eden is about freedom and efficiency. Balance should be controlled with PG/CPU, but more importantly BONUSES.
Freedom means that, within reason, any class can do everything. Bonuses however ensure that certain classes are capable of doing certain things *better* than the other classes. This still gives the great freedoms we see in New Eden, but a smart player will make use of the bonuses that help optimize a particular task.
The reason people are spinning their heads over this stuff and trying to strongarm roles is because 90% of the current bonuses....suck. They're really awful. They're placeholders meant to fulfil a purpose while CCP gets the rest of the damn system done. It sucks, and it needs to be reworked. This does not mean however that existing mechanics need to be completely violated in order to obtain balance.
