Let's introduce a new contract option, where players can post up that they are open to being challenged and other players can accept the challenge to play what is in effect a private match.
The way it could work could be that you can set certain conditions: game mode (ambush, domination, skirmish); number of players (6 - 16); maybe even map/socket set.
When the contract has been set, it appears in the Special Contracts tab of the battlefinder and can be accepted by anyone until the enemy side is full. Once the contract has been accepted by one person, the contractor is notified and can initiate the match when ready. The match will not initiate until the contractor confirms, at which point the warbarge opens and a 5 minute timer begins. In this time both sides must get together their teams to fill whatever numbers had been set in the conditions. You could set the numbers higher than you actually have available and have to scrabble around for 'ringers' or something but you could have a full team ready to go. Ideally, when accepting a contract you should have the required numbers ready but you could equally run around to get your own ringers, otherwise you could end up horribly outnumbered and just get demolished.
Rewards and fees could vary. You could set a free entry match or have an ante of millions to dissuade casuals or non-serious contenders. Isk would be paid out only to winners as per normal pub matches (to the split value of gear consumed during the match) and the person who put up the ante would get their ante back doubled. Salvage would work the same as in PC matches currently (50% of all enemy gear consumed).
Essentially this would be a revamp of the old corporation match system but would be open to more than just corporations and have more associated options.
Let me know your thoughts on this and if you have any further ideas to extend on this.

The contracts could be entirely flexible and the settings are totally at the discretion of the contractor and if you don't want to put a set time, you can just leave it open as long as you're online and wait for someone to accept it whenever.

Can't believe i didn't think of this before - cheers guys! This would be perfect for setting up player made events, tourneys and things like thunderdome. And even further, it could be the first step towards eve players setting us contracts in the future too! Oh man this is am even bigger thing than i initially realised - that's exciting stuff.
