Alright, recently I've been playing with the A-DS (Assault Dropship), and I can honestly say this needs a bit of work. This will be updated, assuming I'm not too lazy/busy, and I get more time to play with these. Here's my findings. :D
//: Aiming with the A-DS Aiming with the Assault Dropship is a pain, honestly. The fact that the crossheir is blocked by the ship itself is really, REALLY annoying. What ends up happening is the ship is literally blocking the view of what your aiming at. You have to hope you can see a chevron, because otherwise it'd all just be guessing where the shots need to land. Solution: Make the Dropship semi-transparent to ONLY the pilot. This way, we can at least see who's underneath us.
The fast movement of the A-DS, and the responsiveness is great. I can get in-out of battle quickly, if I'm being fired at by swarms, I can quickly escape. However, this also hinders the killing abilities of the A-DS. It's very hard to stabilize yourself when flying above a target. And if the target moves into your blind spot (Directly beneath you), then you have to move backwards and readjust your balance again. The aerodynamics of this also hinders other parts of the dropship (See //: Movement with the A-DS) Solution: When firing, automatically level the dropship. Not instantly, but fast enough to where it doesn't take 3 minutes to kill a single merc.
//: Movement with the A-DS This is not as important as aiming, but still a big one. I love the speed and responsiveness of the A-DS, but the problem with how quick this thing is, is that I was shot at one time by a railgun and it instantly turned me on my side, making it semi-impossible to escape and definitely impossible to kill people. If I hadn't saved myself, I probably would've hit a building. Solution: Decrease the amount of force that's put into a Railgun/Forge Gun blast. Same damage, less push.
This next one applies to all dropships: Being against walls. I was hit by an AV grenade at one point (I assume a Sleek, because a normal one can't reach that far), and hit my side against a sloped wall. It took me a total of 5 full minutes to get off the damn slope, all the while I had enemy infantries getting past the line of defense I had set up. The problem is that it pushes you further into the wall when you try to go up. This mostly happens on slanted walls, which means that, if you do wiggle yourself free, the top of the ship is going straight into the ground. However, against completely flat walls, all it does it flip your dropship on it's side, making the top of the ship go into the wall. Both times, it's incredibly hard to escape. Solution: Make a manual shut-down button. Turns off all systems (including engine), making gravity put your right-side-up again. Maybe R1 could be the button? Pressing again will toggle it systems on.
//: Durability of the A-DS The durability of the A-DS is fine, depending on how you fit it, but there are problems with the movement and aerodynamics that make the survivability itself very low. Also, for some reason, AI turrets are targeting me from across the map. I was on Line Harvest, flying around in G8. I already destroyed all turrets except the ones in each redline. I still had missiles just missing me and railguns nailing me in the nose, both were in the enemy redline. There's a good chance it was a player, but either way, having to fly away each time you stop to kill people because you can't survive 3 railgun hits is really annoying. Solution: Maybe a decrease in Effective Range on Railguns and Missiles?

add a lot more instrumentation to the DS with and in cockpit look around, so I don't have to use the outside veiw is what I would say but yea other wise i agree. |

What do you mean by "instrumentation"? I've never heard that word associated with dropships. Or anything in-game, really.

Making the dropship transparent when aiming under it, and a toggle button for stabilization, with the same mechanics as the mlt dropships have now (reiterating, a TOGGLE FUNCTION, like R3) and I think A-DS will be set. |

You've hit on a couple of the hot-button issues for pilots.
I'm against the stabilization, not just while firing, but period. The problem with stabilized firing though is it's only useful for targets below you or within a certain area in front of you. It could hinder normal use of the turret the same way some people are finding the Mlt DS leveling control does. Also, in order to be effective the stabilization would have to kick in before you fire.
If you get stuck to something, I find the easiest way to get unstuck is, do the opposite of what makes sense.
Durability is only fine against anything other than FGs, Swarms, AI Turrets, and almost any surface. As for the turrets, if they were hitting you unerringly from the redline, I guarantee they were AI. AI turrets rank right up there with Assault Forges and Swarms that don't render as the bane of pilots.
Not new, just new to you.

Flight instruments. Altimeters, artificial horizons, etc.

i r glad 2 hav such gud feedback. such great. wow. so positive.
The instrumentation might be good. Especially in the 1.7 patch when I'm being nailed by Swarms at 400m, it's always a plus to add something that will help me call bullsh*t. :D Seriously though, speed altitude, etc is being added to the list.
Also being added to the list, different view types. We already have 3rd person and 1st person, but I want something like a hole in the bottom of my A-DS. For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, here's a screen-cap of War Thunder's "bombing" view. ( http://www.kiasa.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Bombsight.jpg ) I know it's a little hard to tell, but that's pointed almost directly at the ground, sort of at a forward angle. Amazing for A-DS pilots looking for some anti-infantry fun.

I mean altimeters, artificial horizons, airspeed indicators, proximity warnings, I mean an instrument cluster like you have in real life.
most vehicles don't need it but dropships could really benefit from it. |

i belive that exsists right now but its next to imposible to fly like that I could be wrong.

Sorry, but at this point I think a lot of pilots are getting burned out responding to ADS Feedback. I still agree with the transparancy for the pilot, but I think some of the other suggestions will have to be reevaluated after 1.7 and the changes it brings.

Definitely, Lanius, but looking at statistics for ALL dropships, they're doubling the speed for every dropship. Which will make this even more responsive, and remember that this is part of the problem. You can't aim as well, and everything will just flat-out turn you upside down.

Nope. The current 1st person view camera is tilted too far forward, making it only really useful in dogfights, and even then, it's a pretty iffy move. You have to get very in front of someone to start firing with that, but then you can't stabilize yourself very well.

It has been confirmed that "booping" a dropship definitely kills it.
I said I'm sorry, McBob, just let it go!
