If one side holds all the points, uniterrupted, for some length of time...probably around 1 - 2 minutes...just end the match early and give the winner a small slice of the loser's ISK (to deincentivize the losing team from just giving up).
I'm pretty sure I've seen this sort of thing suggested before, but redline matches are just boring for everyone.
RDVs are a failed experiment - can't we just remove them from the game?

This could work for skirmish (although I would make the timer at least 3 minutes), but not for domination. I've been in domination matches where one side kept the point from the start to up until the opposing MCC was at cca. 50% armor. Nevertheless, once the other side captured the point, they managed to hold it and won (not by clone depletion, but by MCC desctruction).
One other potential problem is the scenario where one side isn't able to capture the objective(s), but is still able to kill the enemy efficiently. What if they stand a chance to win by clone depletion?

While this is certainly a possibility, I don't think I've ever seen it happen...if it does, I'm confident that it's pretty rare. I'd gladly sacrifice the opportunity for 'rightful winners' in those few situations to make the far more common stomps less painful.
But, I think this would probably be an appropriate solution for pubs only. I wouldn't to interfere with the dynamics of clone count in PC. FW...meh, either way.

You can still Clone out the other side.

I've thought about this too. Some sort of "mercy rule".
Instant redline matches suck for both teams. A potential solution I thought about was to have the battle timer speed up if more than 50% (or so) of one team did not leave the redline for a certain period of time.
Example:
If 50% of one team remains behind the redline for 30 seconds, the timer speed will double. If the losing team somehow manages to charge out of the redline, timer speed will resume normally. Also, if a skirmish or domination map times out due to the redline timer, there would be a slight ISK and SP penalty to both teams as to not further encourage pubstomping.

Are you getting full SP for an early ending match?
If yes, probably exploitable...just proto stomp and end a match in 5 mins and get full SP for a normal Skirmish match.
If no (most likely since some SP is based on time), then the only incentive is competitive matches. I'd rather just AFK the match and get my SP.
Bring back proper AFK!
Seriously though, if the match isn't fun anymore just quit out. Hopefully CCP gets data on quits and maybe does something about it. |

You know what might be simpler than my original idea (or maybe just a more elegant implementation)...when one side owns all the points, the damage to the enemy MCC is drastically increased. Just balance the damage multiplier so that the match is reduced to my initial suggestion length.
@Galvan - Regarding SP accrual...there's not really any way to know how long the match would have lasted had it not ended early, and therefore no way to calculate the 'passive battle SP' that would have accrued...so it seems like the only possibility to just award SP for whatever happens before match end.
If I wanted to AFK, I'd...I don't know, do something other than play the game. If I'm getting redlined, I snipe, or try to break out w/ uplinks (but it's usually too late at that point). If I'm doing the redlining, I drive up and down the redline trying to kill something, anything...when I'm playing the game, I want to actually play. If you quit out, you lose whatever ISK/SP you would have earned, right? I've always assumed that, don't know with certainty. In any case, that's a workaround for the current situation, really, rather than a proper fix.
