Usually if my Allaince is RP'ing within one of the chats we post markers (IC) for instance to let everyone know who we are when we speak.
Hello Nauticlone, I'm the Commanding Officer for the Providence Guard militia corporation. No, we do not have a requirement for roleplaying. It is simply encouraged as those that follow the lore have more inclination to accomplish the corporation's objectives and a certain drive and motivation unacquirable with those who have no clue what the "State" is or about being "Caldari". To them, their reasons are various and often changing as well as their motivations weaker and often fading when their interests shift. Those whom are not lore-inclined tend to be less reliable in the grand scheme then those that actually care if your faction is winning/losing and the implications of everything involved.
Personally, I'm a casual roleplayer. Essentially, whenever I log on EVE Online or DUST514, I am in character but I do so in such a casual manner that I do not use a system to determine if I am or not since I find such a thing makes the fun and fantasy utterly superficial and hard to submerge in. Regardless, I like knowing, accounting and including the lore of EVE into ever facet of the game because, unlike Mass Effect or Halo or many other SF games, it is not very apparent and readily integrated in daily activity within the games. The EVE universe lore is rich, complex and so diverse, it's difficult to not be interested in. Besides the general fun of it, more relevant to EVE Online than DUST514, it gives a purpose and reason for things you do in this fictional sandbox virtual galaxy full of virtual starships with demigod captains and planets afire with immortal soldiers.
That is my opinion to why I like to "RP" and hope to associate and team with those whom have the same fun in this wonderful universe of military, political and economical intrigue.
R.A. Decimus, Rear Admiral, Commanding Officer.
