Meh.
I have enough ISK to constantly run proto gear, but that's too boring and easy. The only advanced suit I use these days is the basic heavy and even that is with an advanced HMG. You'd be surprised how many protocubs it takes to bring my ****** down in it. Hell, it takes two or three to bring down my standard scouts. Why the **** would I run proto? That's extremely boring.
When the Carnage event started, I popped in with protogear and for my first game, I went 20-0. In a ******* heavy suit that had no reppers, grenades, or secondary. I was so disappointed that I withdrew from the Quafe suit getting portion. I was hopping for people to put up a fight, instead those same people that gang up on the newbloods in their own protogear just lay down and take it like bitches. Talk about embarrassing. For them for crutching, for me for thinking they could fight.
You'll find me in Factional Warfare rather often two hours before and after downtime on the Gallente's side. I run either the HMG, logibro, or obscure scout. I've grown fond of using two Assault Scrambler Pistols, but it's getting stale for me. Bah. You'll know it's me in the warbarge because of the red Caldari suit I have on. (I love the reactions that people give when they see it, the irony of all of it, and sheerly because it's red.) I prefer to use Gallentean gear on the battlefield, much more strongly when in FW, though I am limited.
When all the suits come in, I'll be one of the first to deploy in the Gallente's armor tanked heavy. One day.

I run standard, if not militia, to give the newbloods a better chance. I prefer the logibro role because not only does it support my team, but it's one hell of a moral boost for those on the front lines. Running low gear keeps things interesting for me. I also run the most obscure fittings. If you see some Commando running around with Plasma Cannon, Shotgun, and Remote Explosives...
