Definitely don't care about next gen consoles. I used to be management at Gamestop before I quit due to being treated like ****. Working in the industry (and really you don't have to be management to experience this) you soon realize that the gaming world only cares about 1 thing. Money. Hell, most of the people higher then me in the company weren't even gamers -or- casual gamers who only played madden on the weekends and didn't know sh!t about games. Just how to convince you to buy them. Disgusting. Don't get me wrong. They are a business and business goal number 1 is to generate profits. However, this is just beyond greed. They don't care about gamers. It's basically a scam. "How can we hype you into dropping $60-$150 on a product right out of the gate?" (in this case spend >$500 on a next gen console) Now that you've bought it you realize the game isn't even completed prorperly, the system has fatal errors right out of the gate, no testing has been done (that's the consumers job now, and we pay them to do it), parts of the game are purposefully held back to get you to shell out even more for extra $$$ and what we're all seeing now ,the microtransaction plague that has come down on the entire thing. Basically I am done with this sh!t. There's no point anymore. With lag and bugs and a lack of interest from devs to give a Sh!t there's no point in competitive gameplay. You can't "prove" your better because the games broken and even if it did work as intended people will abuse feedback tampering or modded equipment to defeat you effectively making "skill" irrelevant. Not to mention when the network is no longer supported then all that extra content like characters, levels, skins etc... POOF! Done. Here's a youtube video of what game developing should be like and what we've moved very far from in the name of profits.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FpigqfcvlM Regardless of what you think about Egoraptor he makes some great points about what gaming has become. As far as the whole situation, I just don't give a sh!t. I would be frustrated but with gaming moving more to digital it is becoming increasingly easier to pirate games. Honestly, that's what it's worth. You can't bother making a game right? I can't bother to pay you to play it. Believe whatever you want about that and QQ more about intellectual property rights. Morals and ethics aren't considered in the creation or distribution of these games, expect the same attitude from me in obtaining said product. The reason it's like this is because no matter how hard they screw you (I know all of you have experienced this somehow, someway) people keep shelling out. No matter how expensive the game becomes, people keep shelling out. Younger gamers, oblivious to this system, have parents to pay the costs, parents who know nothing of what they are buying for their kids. They have the gaming world in a vice grip and they are going to squeeze it for all it's worth. Before I get flamed for this I will say that this is MY OPINION and my outlook on the morality of intellectual property rights isn't on trial here. That's my 2-cents on the topic. That being said, there are still great games and developers out there (ex: Dark Souls) and I will gladly pay the $80+ to play the game because it's worth it to me. Please don't reply to my post. This is merely my opinion (cynical indeed) and I have no intention of arguing or clarifying any of it. I just wanted to throw it out there, maybe some of you will benefit. Take it as you will. TL:DR - If you're too lazy to read and comprehend ideas then your say or opinion is irrelevant to me
