Only have advanced Gallente Scout so far:
On that I HP tank (total about 400 EHP)
On my basic light Minja I speed tank.
Mostly lately I just tank QQ from getting beat up by Proto stompers  |

It all depends on which suit fitting i am using, though i mainly run close combat orientated weapons so speed tank.

Pure speed tank for running long distances or pure stealth tank for dwelling in confined spaces.

Lol, the answer is: don't try to tank, period. If you are a scout, you are doing it wrong (TM).
As a scout you should try to run with a squad, imo, and have scan range extenders equipped. Engage only when reddots are engaged and are facing your blue dots, then start circling around and flank them. I guess that's stealth tanking than anything else. Galente scout works best obviously, mini scout is the trashiest suit in the game. I am a mini scout obviously.
Those are my thoughts, anyway.

That is a standard scout, if you are running a stealth scout, it would be best to either stick to snipers, or sneaking around corners with a shotty. Either way a scout is to relay info about the red dots to the blue dots. Like, if there are tanks closing in, swarm of red dots over the bin, ol' johnny messing with the village girls and getting into a pickle with the farmer and a shotgun. I obviously have donned the sniper, so i relay about enemy positions, and stick to guarding points - and do my best to shoot the farmer when he tries to teach ol johnny a lesson, so i can teach ol johnny a lesson.

Stealth usually, then I lose it and engage when I shouldn't.
To keep costs down I generally run an advanced Minmatar scout. I fit one complex shield extender since there is room and to survive dashes for cover a bit longer.

Speed tank on my adv gal scout.
I do love to pull out my adv gal scout with with dual comp damage mods and assault scrambler rifle. Best fit for red lining you run into the redline, kill one or two run back out and then do it again.
If i need tank i use my amarr assualt suit.
For the Empire
Dual tanking is a sin
BPO's are bad for economy, Respec's are bad for the game. Want to fight about it?

Stealth tank all the way...hell my suit only has, for the couple of fits i use situationally, 80 shield and 149 to 266 armor. Generally its the 149
Dedicated scout. Because the suit is underpowered. Imagine the good ones when we get buffed people ;)

Typically HP tank. 1 STD shield extender, 1 STD reactive plate, and 1 ADV armor plate on a STD gallente scout. Rocking nova knives and an AR. You wouldn't believe how many times that reactive plate has saved my skin in a fire fight.

I generally run advanced Gallente scout with 1 complex KinCat, 1 complex range extender and one complex shield extender. I have my dampening and scout suit skill maxed out, so unless someone is running a proto scanner, I generally don't have to actually equip anything to stealth tank.
On the somewhat rare occasions I don my proto Gallente scout suit, I've been trying out various stuff. I tried armor tanking it, but I'm somewhat unimpressed with the results. I've done far better range tanking it (1 complex KinCat, 3 complex range extenders); my playstyle is very flanking-based. Being able to passively scan down anyone but dampener-equipped scouts, almost to the edge of my minimap, is a real boon. I'm looking forward to using this fitting more once the FW changes take effect, since I tend to avoid proto suit use in pub matches. |

I go hp tank on my proto scout and stealth on my dragonfly. My Gal proto has 150 shield and 400 armor, you can call it a light assault hunter specialized in flanking and breaking up red defense positions with enough hp, speed and stamina to run away and hide again after initial contact. To defend checkpoints against single targets trying to hack one of our letters etc.
My cheap scouts are build for long range scanning, to use stealth and avoid any unfavorable contact and only engage when I have the surprise moment on my side. Used to break up redlining, drop uplinks in strategic locations, take out lonely snipers, hack behind enemy line, use dropships and lav for quick transportation etc. |
