They look very nice yes. The basic dropships actually look awesome, depending on if they still handle like morbidly obese people on broomsticks or not. They have the slot advantage over assault ships (4 primary, 2 secondary, vs 3 primary, 1 secondary), and all the ships got a big buff to PG / CPU. Depending on if we can just not fit turrets like they said so long ago, you should be able to get some mileage out of the new ships even with minimal skills invested.
Just gonna have to wait and see. I for one just want to see the new blasters in action, since I'm basically forced to use them on my assault dropship since Caldari tech is disgusting and I'd rather pilot a turd than a python.

the only way to make a profit AND still be competitive is to run a brick tanked Medium Suit.
otherwise, you might be able to give your opponent a run for their money, but you will surely lose some in the process as well.

I hope not. If vehicles are incredibly powerful AND profitable then there will be balance problems. Sure it'll be nice for the people who have the skills now, but there will be a flood of people switching over if this were the case. I think vehicles should be very powerful toys that require effort (outside of vehicles) to keep funded, just like the high-end ships in EVE require an additional income stream to fly other than just PVPing in them. In a couple of years most players will be able to run several infantry and vehicle fits well, so the game should be designed around this reality.

Saddest part about 1.7 is they're giving Dust Fiend his Assault Dropship keys back. CCP, you said you'd take his keys and ADS license!

I dare you to use railguns It all depends on if they do proper damage vs vehicles or not. A 50% boost to RoF on railguns is pretty nasty, though I wouldn't have much room for tank since I'd have to account for heat, and I'd probably want a damage mod. I'll likely have that fit in roster to help take out tanks when they're on cooldown.
