Are you seriously trying to say that the Combat Rifle looks like an AK-47?

Overall Design: Paint it white, and you've got a Move Sharpshooter with a bullpup-modded M4 jammed into it.
The Real Derp: "...the combat rifle is a semi-automatic weapon well-suited to both short and medium range combat" Yea... that would have been a Tactical variant. We don't have that variant for the Combat Rifle.
The False Derp That magazine would be unable to directly feed bullets into the chamber, severely cutting the cycle rate - hence, the end RoF. However, the universal magazine design between almost everything except the Scrambler Pistol suggests that it actually stores Nanohive nanobots that construct the ammunition immediately before it's loaded This causes that bend to make more sense, because you need some separation between the nanites and fully-constructed rounds for maximum efficiency in nanite usage - thus, it may allow for larger ammo capacity.
Other Thoughts: >The Sharpshooter-esque framework around the grips may make this weapon uncomfortable to wield. >Judging by the short stock and bullpup design, this was built for urban combat. An emphasis on versatility seems to support this. >That's a nice scope... on one of two universal attachment rails... that the forward grip is also mounted to... >That low magazine would make the weapon easier to reload, requiring less awkward twisting to get your non-trigger hand at the stock compared to IRL bullpups. CCP might be on to something there, but I have no idea how that would work.
Last note: The Rail Rifle also has some form of "universal" attachment rail, but it seems to have much wider spacing than the Matari's version. Ah well, but that could really get the mind going in terms of attachment options...

It looks like the entire weapon is mounted on its own attachment rail... That bottom rail is completely pointless. The Matari have no idea how to design a weapon it seems.

I wish they would remove the bottom part. It would look a lot cooler then.
