I built an AV alt to troll the trolls. So many tank kills that week:)
The WP requirement was 10k at that point and way too short.
But the fear of trolls in academy due to the high WP requirement shouldn't be a deterrent. On top of that, reward them for completing with 500k SP. By then they may know enough about the skill tree to correct some early mistakes. It also makes them starting over to correct their mistakes more appealing.
I don't think a merc should hit the real pub matches until they have upwards of 2mil SP.
Maybe additional checkpoint audio tool tips at different WP milestones also.

Two million is the EXACT number that should be needed to graduate the academy . That could help and solve a lot of problems . That is enough ( if used properly ) you have increased a level in some gear , suit , dip into the core some and just feel better about one's overall game and game play and it also helps to develop a relationship between newer players so if you happen to see them on the barge before a match , you will be more inclined to squad up with them from the history and experience of playing with / against them in the past .
I can also see what FOX is saying ( didn't think about it until you mentioned it either ) about the matchmaking because on the weekends , when the numbers can be at anytime over fifty thousand at one time , I like to play during that time because the games seem more even . I have noticed that . When the numbers are low during rush hours and the majority of the players logging on are those with high skill numbers but the overall numbers of those logging on is low , that's when you can see the " proto stomping " at it's peak and that's well understood .
So once the numbers climb we can see an actual change in the matchmaking and overall gameplay .
