@ Everything Dies: If they ***** and moan in this thread it (hopefully) won't get locked, so we can enjoy it even more. And it will clear up the forums of spam. Two birds, one cup.. I mean stone.
@ Mikey Ducati: Yeah, unfortunately people tend to overlook that when they're setting up their tech products.

Well, it's licensed to the user, so we "own" it for as long as we have access to it without breaking the EULA or Terms of Use, but the developers are free to modify it however they want. That's what sucks about new games, but it's something we have to deal with.
But, using Steam as an example. This is my 5th computer and when I downloaded steam for CS 1.6 I was able to download the program on this machine even though it was installed on four other machines. Add the fact that CS 1.6 is so old that Valve has no reason to modify the game.
Pardon any grammatical errors. Jameson's pretty tasty stuff, makes me feel like I'm rambling.

My worry is what would happen if Sony shut down or otherwise stopped supporting the PS1/2 Classics downloads that I've purchased; I don't physically own a copy of the game, which means I'm entirely dependent upon Sony to continue providing the games that I've "purchased."
But yeah, this sort of thing hasn't stopped me from making several purchases from Steam even after hearing some of the horror stories about people being blocked from their own accounts (and their own games, by extension.)
Well, Sony shutting down would be due only to a catastrophic attack/failure, and I'm assuming they've prepared some contingency plan in case something went horribly wrong. They did end up pulling the plug for a bit when they got attacked last year or whenever.
As for supporting their old games, it would be silly for them to completely end supporting ps1 or 2 games. The only thing I know that they ditched was the PSP when the Vita was coming out.
