It's an EMP pulse, right? Why does that get stopped by walls? Crates? Tiny bumps in terrain?
You can't destroy the mountains of nanohives and uplinks in certain areas because a miniscule bump stops the flux blast.
What if flux blasts could go through obstacles? Those pesky uplinks on low roofs would be much easier to destroy without needing to call in a dropship for that one specific purpose.
Are there any downsides to this? You can't kill people with fluxes (anymore!). It would give them a new tactical advantage in all situations but would hardly make them overpowered purely because of their non-lethal nature. But most of all, this totally circumvents those annoying splash hit detection issues you get with them being blocked by a spec of dust.

Yes there is a huge downside to this.
Think about people who shield tank.
Would it be fair to them if their shields can be instantly wiped by a grenade they had no chance of even avoiding because the pulse can go through walls?

It doesn't even kill them.

What if I had a grenade that could go through walls and leave you with around 100hp remaining? Sure you wouldn't be dead, but I think you'd agree that the concept of that idea is broken.

We need a grenade that can take out all but one hit point of armor without touching shields.
It wouldn't kill them and they've still got the shield buffer.

I thought they already did? Those bridges over the road in one of the complexes are a favourite spot for uplinks. It can't have been that long since I used a well cooked flux to pop them from below.
No.

Just use Locus Grenades, they don't leave 1 HP or a shield buffer.

Would it be fair to them if their shields can be instantly wiped by a grenade they had no chance of even avoiding because the pulse can go through walls? It's pretty easy to avoid them. If you're on the other side of a wall, unless the flux is right against the wall and you are right up against the other side, likelihood is you're not going to be much within the splash radius, so just a couple of steps back will do the job. And even then, if you do get hit by a flux from behind cover, an enemy still has to get around that cover to finish you off before your recharge kicks in anyway.

Pretty certain they don't - in PC a few days ago there was an uplink on top of a structure near the objective I was defending. No matter how many fluxes I threw I couldn't get it. It was only a few meters above me and even cooking the fluxes and timing the throw to get the blast to go off right next to the uplink, I couldn't get it. Either the corner of the structure or a small indent was blocking the blast about 1m from the target.
