my thoughts on the giant vehicle balance whine
? why cant the same 3 av user that killed the first tank kill the other 5?
see this is where people are wrong av is a role..3 av units 1 tank are capable generally of declaring a field vehicle free...meaning no vehicle would be capable of being effective vs infantry because they would have to deal with us first...now generally an av team consists of an ambush team (for when modules are burnt and tank is weak) a tanker and a long range high dps forger...
so with the only exception being all 6 tanks are on mic together protecting one another it will only take 4 to deal with any number of tanks..the only time this changes is when coordinated tanking av tactics are introduced on the enemy side...(6 tanks working together vs 2 bad ass av and 2 veteran tanks..the 6 tanks lose btw)
when that happens your av team changes from an av team to an av/tank team and meets them tactically..the role of guardian and /vehicle master compliment each other and in official tactical warfare it requires skill dedication and team work to deny an enemy team their vehicles..
so look at it this way atm you have scouts logis slayers heavies..and an effective team uses a mixture of all to stomp the enemy the tactically counter the enemies infantry and push for our objectives whatever they are
while that fight is going on there is supposed to be another fight av/vehicle vs av /vehicle...there is no reason for infantry to do anything out side in balanced av tank warfare..the open and exposed objective are the goal of the av tanking team as they are best fitted to be out in the open and counter the threats open space brings...snipers vehicles av..
right now the fight is infantry vs infantry an occasional vehicle specc pokes their head in and gets dealt with by infantry..normally not even 33% specced with no real exp...this game has lost half its depth when tanks were nerfed to ****...and only those of us who participated in closed beta..in competitive fights can tell u how much has been lost...
when vehicles are balanced the depth will be back on a whole new level...and if you look at the newer maps..the building allow for more isolation from vehicles...this means in the scenario where the enemy tanking /av tactics are stonger and vehicles go ona rampage there is some means to control your exposure to that...which in turn will naturally lower the slaughter when it comes to exp players....
old dust had no safe space against vehicles...after uprising that changed..and to be honest with vehicles so UP it put them in an even more ****** position...back in the day if your vehicle av team got wiped out and tanks started rolling across the field you had no where to hide..people need to stop crying about tanks becoming legit again..it will not be like last time dust is in a completely different state map wise |

this is whats wrong with the forums folks, peopel who think this place is somewhere to post rational arguments and thoughts about the game.

For instance, we could reduce large blaster damage to 30 per hit, so you needed concentrated fire from 3 or more blaster tanks to reliably take out one infantryman. The same three tanks can then take out the rest of the infantry, moving as a unit and 3-on-1ing each infantryman they come up against. Does that seem fair to you? |

i mean the whole reason av is useless now is because tanks cannot stand side by side their counter parts.. we have halves of a whole one is strong and practically unstoppable 1 is weak and suffers..when tanks can take 3 of me...i can go back to being like the ultimate utility belt for any tanker lol...i am 100% specced as a guardian 1.7 is bring meaning back to my spec ...although tek i still wont be able to run true guardian as i have no vehicle lock |

But there's a problem with that. The multiple tanks could be near each other, all of them firing at the AV people, meaning that they have to GTFO ASAP. Alpha is hugely important to bring you down before you activate modules, when there are three tanks that means more Alpha is needed.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

see my av rig meaning my suit + my lav costs me 500k...3 of me = roughly 1.5 mill or about the cost of a tank..you infantry suits are all cheap i have logi's heavies and assault suits..non of them compare to running a guardian rig..or a tank
and no three tanks hitting 1 infantry isnt fair there dps is to high for that to be fair..that would kinda be like 3 proto av users attacking 1 tank currently in dust.
in the next build it will take 3 proto av use to deal with 1 proto tank..and those proto av users are going to have to deal with that tanks guardians as well..you need to get the idea of countering tanks with only av out of your head...tanks are met by tanks...tanks and guardian run together and are met by tanks and guardians..if your tanks and guardians fail...then the enemies tanks and guardians will have no opposition and fall onto the infantry ...more limited than before thanks to the shiny new buildings
the only time ever that tanks and guardians were met with guardians alone in competitive play was when tanks became UP and av became OP |

generally when things were balanced if you were fighting a tank that im in a squad with at any moment you would find a proto logi and a charybdis behind you with nanos lai dais and proto swarms prof V..it will be the same next build tanks will stop to breath after heated engagement with enemy tanks only to find that while they were focused one of that tanks gaurdians slipped off and snuck up behind him
in other words the ALPHA is the tank i am protecting and the enemy tank is almost always to busy with my friendly tanker to notice his doom
hell i remember one time we actually put a proto forger on a roof above and enemy tank while i the proto swarm crept behind him and someone else the ALPHA or TANK kept him on his toes and looking the other way.
and now the cooldowns and recovery time for tanks is gunna be nice and long..that weak spot that i had no trouble finding before will now be so hard to miss |

There is so much holes in this.. I as a scout, before HUNTING DOWN TANKS, HUNTED AV GUYS. They can't defend themselves. 3 AV Guys VS ONE OF ME. I win. ALL THE TIME.
Snipers and AV guys. And haunting objectives was my role. Then I upgraded same scout to AV and haunted tanks and DS in their own red line.
One of the flaws is that many tankers seem to think that their ilk and the AV ilk will follow some sort of unwritten rule and only go up against each other. very dumb to think that in a FPS game.
Av have to worry about tanks and infantry or a very big rock.
Tanks have to worry about AV and Forge guns.

i accept your opinion surt and you are right there are other things that engage av assassins used to be way more common than they are now.. but skilled av has encountered this before and every av unit should have a counter for it personally i think smg is the best sidearm for any av unit period...it slaughters scouts is good in cqc...and on a skilled heavy might as well be an hmg |

A tank shouldn't have to die to infantry who could have moved away, ran behind cover and can easily respawn anywhere vs. a tank having to be called in again.
Also, it is important what your team brings to the field. If you are on a team of solo players you go with what you get. If nobody can field a tank to counter well then you don't need to have proto av be so effective because of it. If you field a premade team that are equipped for contingencies then a tank is not a problem.
I've never had a tank be such a problem as other infantry units and I certainly can't be an all powerful force everywhere on the battlefield at once in a tank so as to cause undue stress on infantry.
I don't get the infantry complaints about tanks.

I don't get the infantry complaints about tanks. thank you ...and i would think mos players have a wide variety of fits they can field personally i can field stnd-proto amarian logi.. stnd to adv amarian assault ..and stnd to proto amarian heavy. come 1.7 the only light weapon i wont have to prof 3 or higher is the plasma cannon..and ill have both heavy weapons as well and be able to go up to proto amarian assault variety is very common in dust |
