Just before I continue I want to say this is not a rage thread, nor a QQ thread, just a few words from a tired merc.
I think after my 8 months of playing Dust, my career is going to come to a temporary halt. Yes, I will be leaving Dust. No, not permanently. When I first started playing Dust, it was a pretty fun game for me, but getting to know the game wasn't my original intent; I needed a substitute until the PS4 came out. Yeah I know shame on me, but back then I didn't understand what an amazing game, community and universe Dust 514 has. I soon became a Dust addict, I loved the forums, the lore, the combat, the syfy, the guns, everything! I soon became adept, and then started to master some aspects, constantly learning, yet still lacking on the SP, I didn't miss one week of my cap bonus, and soon after getting the game I bought the merc, and vet packs, and luckily won an elite pack in a lottery. I joined a corp very early in my Dust career: Defenders of the Helghast Dream. The peeps in my corp have been good to me, and I have returned the act in kind. I have been (and still am) one of the top players in my corp. About 2 weeks before 1.4 I started having oddly high scoring games, and I realized I was earning my way up the ranks. While I was improving phenomenally, I was hating getting killed more and more. I started blaming my deaths on blues in the redzone, getting aim-assisted or auto-aimed around a corner (post 1.4), and so on. My Dust experience was getting somewhat unenjoyable. Soon after this time I picked up the scout suit for a bigger challenge (I had used the scout before the uprising repsec) . This made it worse. While I loved (and love) the scout, aim-assist ARs and ScRs just made it un-bearable. Just the broken-ness of the aim-assist and auto-aim reigning terror, taking absolutely no skill, yet people find it fun (somehow) when it's just the "whoever has the proto suit" "whoever sees the guy first" "whoever has damage mods" "who has a bunch of proto blues that actually try". Low TTK has broken Dust. Corps with an infinite loop of 100 of millions of ISK to fund their proto stomp squads, like they're nothing, but in the crossfire ruin other's fun. Fair battles are quite rare, while fun ones are nonexistent. I have a great passion for this game but I don't think I can take much more without losing my mind. I have had a blast fighting with you guys, or against. Some have been a pleasure, some have gotten on my **** list, while the whole time has been a amazing trip. I'm not saying I won't come back to dust, but I'm certainly taking a "vacation" of sorts, and I suggest other rusty dusters to take the same course. You may see me on the forums, and possibly on a rare occasion, in game. I will be keeping an eye out for some sign of TTK raise, AA and AA nullification, or maybe even a respec. Until then, happy hunting mercs.
