Why isn't all SP invested into AR/ScR being refunded ?
-The rest of the BASIC RACIAL VARIANTS are finally being released in 1.7 .... 6 months too late if you ask me seeing as they are classed as basic content so why isn't the SP being refunded now all options are available ?
-Think of it this way .. if CCP were to introduce the other 3 racial variants of the Heavy suits and then not give an SP refund for the sp invested in the Amarr heavy their would be an uproar from the heavy suit users and rightly so .. due to basic content not being released players are basically forced to have to skill down a particular route due to lack of options ..
-I know the no respec ever crowd will say something along the lines of .. you should have been psychic or not skilled into anything and ran around for a year using miltia weapons until they released the basic variants etc etc but this is extremely unreasonable ...
-If you don;t want to give out full respecs then okay .. I can kind of understand even though I still think it's a bit pointless seeing as we are in a form of BETA still .. but surely releasing the racial variants of something would constitute a skill refund for the sp skilled into that particular class
-With the way CCP are going about introducing things it seems like we are going to get dribs and drabs of the basic content being added which means their wont be a full respec anytime soon .. (2 weapons in 6 months whilst we are still waiting on .. umm .. everything elses racial variants to be added ... could take 5 years + at the current turnaround lol) so why not introduce an SP refund when you add the racial variants of each suit/weapon etc ?? You could even restrict it to only being able to be reskilled into the variants of the weapon you had the SP refunded from ...
-Think about it CCP it would appease all the current reasonable requests of respecs, players would likely be more patient waiting for the other racial variants knowing that when they do come they will get an sp refund to be able to go down the route they wanted to originally rather than spending months sitting on sp in the hope you'll get round to actually introducing the basic variants that are missing
TL;DR Not a full respec request just an SP refund as and when you add the other racial variants .. if its just AR variants then refund the SP skilled into the AR/ScR if its just scout suits then refund the sp invested in the scout suit variants ..

We both know hope just leads to disappointment as far as CCP is concerned it's best to just go on the premise that we will never get anything and trying softly softly approaches to reach a common ground

completely agree, we have had to waste skill points to be able to play and still have a feeling of development even though we are missing large amounts
but at the same time, i play Logi atm but i will im sure end up being a heavy, right now with Heavy having no suits and no weapons to really choose from im not going to put point into a role which i dont even know how its going to work, in this respect i would rather see the full basic racial suits and weapons come out (unbalanced if they have to be) so we can get a feel for the design of them
Im only Gallente as im hoping Drones will come in and it will be their Racial bonus at somepoint
Also concerned that Racial suits will get a bonus to their Races weapons, right now they dont do i could spend my SP cross skilling weapons and suits to find out later when the rest get released they need to separate them
Setting our expectations of whats to come helps us prepare, but granted CCP have to try and stick with it, if CCP cant stick by their expectations then they should bend over backwards to to explain why and do what they can to make the community happy, i.e full respects
the BPO fiasco is a joke, in the 10 years running EvE and all the BPO issues and with your Market Guru you could not see this coming seems incredibly unlikely, i bet that guy was screaming not to introduce BPO's it was clear to all they were a bad idea, without the need of materials to create items you kill the market, even Aur items are not a great idea for the same reason, they are still created out of nothing, would be better to get the market merged and allow the trading of PLEX so Dust players could sell PLEX to EvE toons for Isk
We have players setting up Isk transfers between EvE and Dust...... why cant you get it active yet
ok i might have gone on a rant so ill shut up now
TL;DR -- i agree :D

It's fine this is posted in general discussion after all, feel free to go into whatever detail you like I read it all anyway lol
But yeh the points you make is why I think this refund method is a better route than maybe the full respec route .. unless everything is introduced at once it may be better to just do partial sp refunds when each of the variants are out

This is just CCP. It's how they have always operated about SP refunds around skill changes, for over a decade.
If they completely rework something like they are with vehicles... delete... add... redo the mechanics.. They will reimburse the skill points.
If they nerf or buff soemething they won't... as the cycle in New Eden goes they will always be useful and maybe one day be the FOTM again and you can always acquire new skill points and branch off into something else.
When they thought rapid reload had to high of skill multiplyer they modified the skill and reduced it and refunded skill point's.
When they nerfed the flaylock/contact grenades they offered no SP reimbursement or even Aurum.
It's best to look upon those skill's that collect dust as Photograph's of your old DUST time's... eventually it may be popular again ;)

I never wanted the gallente AR .. it's just that they hadn't added the basic content of the caldari variant .. sorry but 1 year is way too long to be sitting around using militia weapons .. this is basic content we are talking about, this isn;t anything to do with nerfing or buffing ...
I keep going back to the heavy suit argument .. 1 suit for 1 year .. are you saying heavies shouldn;t have used any sp and still shouldnt have used any of that sp because they are missing the other 3 racial variants of their suits ?
We are talking about the basics here ... CCP have until 1.8 to give an sp refund for the AR or im out of here .. i'm not going to continue playing a game that punishes you for actually playing it ... maybe everyone should just stop playing until all the basic content is added ?
In fact why on earth did CCP release a game with so much basic stuff missing ? There is still no ETA on the heavy or scout suit variants ...

EVE never had 99% of the thing's you see on it now when it started either... they got added... we where supposed to get the Jovian's as a fifth race and never did... and won't.
I want jet bikes and i could save all my SP waiting for their eventual addition to the game or i could do what you did and skill into what's available...
Having a game developer continue to add thing's to a game that you want to grind SP and skill into is a blessing regardless if there is a skill tree or SP you would rather re-allocate for.. instead of what you had prior...
That isn't how New Eden has ever ran. and hope it doesn't

Role players have less need for a respec. Immortal clone technology is only about a year old and the corporations are rushing to get new products to the market. As a Minmatar loyalist and dropship pilot In training I'd love a ship from a tribal corporation. They don't exist yet so I chose to fly Caldari. Just because a Matari ship hits the market it doesn't mean I forget how to fly Caldari. In some situations the Caldari model might perform better and I can chose to use it instead.
The same goes for my rifle. Eventually I'll get to a decent skill level in all rifles but the combat rifle will be my standard fit, especially when I get access to faction warfare specialist models.

i'm still waiting for the min. racial ships and lav's (unless we get APC's) simply because i do not expect a full respec , i had in previous builds flown caldari , but since the last respec , where we was told that this would be the last respec . our argument , is not asking for a full respec . what we are asking for , is that when the full set of any given branch of weapon/dropsuit are complete and available , that CCP grant us a refund on the points allocated in these said area's . as a role player this is a vital point . also why having gone as far as doing fitting optimization on my AR would i then blatantly waste valuable SP in to a weapon that is not too diferent from the one i am currently using . |

why would i spend SP in both AR & CR , why would i even contemplate wasting points/time doing this . the other option we had was to not skill in to a weapon at all , or choose the only min. weapon in this class available . sorry , but im not going to even consider that . logi's have a huge range of stuff that we have to speck into for the benifit of those around us , not selfish , i have all my sp in dropsuit upgrades min logi and AR , i am 2 weeks away from fully completing everything(bar hand to hand ) in this section . so why after being so selective in what i spend my points should i be forced to do this . |

To be honest as someone who is anti respec i have to agree with this any time where new raicial varients get introduced the place holder should be removed and sp of the place holder only should be given back to the character to invest in the raceial varient he or she wanted, place holders are things like the AR, shotgun, SMG, sniper rifle, massdriver, forge gun, swarm launcher, heavy suit, scout suit, tanks.............................
Ok pretty much every thing except for the logi and assualt suit are place holders but the refund should only happen for the place holder effected and when it happens this is so people cant just respec to the new FOTM every time this needs to happen as once you make up your mind about what you want your stuck with it.

Yeh that's exactly the point of a refund like this ... introduce the rest of the variants and return any sp invested in the placeholders to be reskilled into that type eg AR's or Scout suits ...

Even if you don't cap every week, it wouldn't take that long to get to proto on a new gun when you get 800k SP a month for doing nothing.
Respec's are a bad idea for one reason alone. If they do it for Combat/Rail Rifles, people will want them at every new content release, and giving it for the rifles would set precedent.
The only time i see a SP refund being appropriate is if a skill is removed from the game for whatever reason.
The best system i can see for respec's, if CCP ever does decide to allow them, would be a once a year timer on them. I would be ok with that just to keep the game fresh for people who want to go another way. Respec's triggered by changes to the game are a serious pitfall for CCP. |

If its not here now it's not worth talking about. Honestly with how much CCP changes things how can we ever believe that things will get implemented? I can't believe eve is so popular and has such a huge player base with how ccp does things. |

Respec's triggered by changes to the game are a serious pitfall for CCP.

i honestly wish i could have avoided puting points in to my weapons section now .... was a director/PC organiser , and needed to be fully proto in some form of weapon ,,, so i only chose the 1 . eve & dust have so much promise , they draw us in with the tag of keeping us in one continualy developed game for the next 5 to ten years. but we are still playing a beta game , i'm willing to give them time to get it right , just wish they would listen to us a little more . |

I don't care what 'you'd be okay with' I care about what would benefit a majority of the players especially new and intermediate players !!!

I do agree with the SP refund once all the racial weapons are out and finalized. Just on light-weapons when they come out and when the suits come out to have refunds for them. Because if a person is wanting to get into the Caldari, Gallente or Minmatar heavy why would they want to spec into the Amarr heavy as well ? .. It is a bit unfair for those who can't spec into the things that they wanted too before. Soo a refund is a great option. To make it even more fair they should give the option to get a refund ONCE. That goes for a Respec as well, let everybody have the option to do one more if they so choose.
I don't want the AR skill and just want my SR but I couldn't before so thats wasted SP. Refund is the best option and CCP should listen to this badger !!! or I will dig in your gardens, eat your farm animal and poop on your doorstep.

First of all, I've been playing dust for about 4 months now, and I've ben playing Eve for 5 years, so I understand the issues with refunding SP. I doubt that counts as being a noob. Your noob comment is very small of you. Yes I did read the post, and it is clearly about refunding SP, so I think my comment applies. This is not an alt, this is my main. You should know that since ive killed you more than a few times in game. As for the freak comment. I will forgive it, because most likely you are the faceless freak in real life. |

Best I can figure it, the anti respec guys find it excruciatingly difficult to spec back into proto logi and AR. |

because your so thick , i have taken pity on you and i will highlight why you are just so wrong ....
"Respec's are a bad idea for one reason alone. If they do it for Combat/Rail Rifles, people will want them at every new content release, and giving it for the rifles would set precedent."
now if you had read the thread , you would realise that this is exactly the point we are trying to raise .... me and others here are against a respec of points , be it vehical or infantry . but , we do think that as the full range of variants in each class become available , that 1 said class gets refunded , and people get to choose which they would prefer , several factors come into this , factional loyalty points(when implemented) role play, and so forth.
"The only time i see a SP refund being appropriate is if a skill is removed from the game for whatever reason. you change from talking about a respec now , and its refund , and no , there will be refunds , we got one a few months back when they adjusted skill levels on sharpshooter and stuff ."
