It also affects CCPs bottom line to keep BPOs in game. That is why they are scrapping them. What F2P company lets you buy gear that lasts forever........ UNHEARDOF........Oh, maybe I should pound sign that.
That's not gameplay. I was speaking of in game battles, the isk and aur items are being removed, maybe replaced with something different. If so the cost will not be great, and will not break the bank. CCP is removing those aur items you bought and is refunding your aur. That's it. Its not the end of the world, its not a huge conspiracy to remove all bpos. They rebalanced vehicles, took some stuff out to do that, and refunded any aur that was spent on the items. They are just militia grade items, and they refunded your aur.
I can easily make this post because my entire dust career does not revolve around my bpos. I wouldn't be throwing a tantrum like a cod player, even if they removed all my bpos and gave me aur back. I would actually be excited. Why make such a huge deal over nothing? |

Skill removal results in BPO removal - ok fair enough we get a refund. So long as that skill is gone for good and never comes back or the same skill effect but with a new name.
If the skill does make a return in a few months or even years then CCP should not have removed the BPO. Otherwise we a going to see a bunch more weapon, suit and vehicle skill rebalancing in the future resulting in the loss of our BPOs.
The only other thing worth buying were boosters but with the removal of the merc pack they are no longer such a good deal.
At the moment I am somewhat annoyed with the removal of my vehicle BPOs but as I do not use them much it hasn't killed the game for me yet but it does mean I will stop spending RL money on the game.
However, once they go after my LAV, vehicle shield extender, or my current infantry BPOs then the game will be over for me. |

Pvt Numnutz wrote: Yes I was here, contact grenades were complete bull ****. I remember every prototype suit I would try to kill would pull out a contact grenade and instant kill me. How do you think mass driver users felt? Or anyone that couldn't buy thousands of them? They reduced their damage because players were abusing them. Do you really think op weapons that are only available through aur should be allowed? do you support the idea that dust should be pay to win? If so please leave now you're in the wrong game.
I'm tiered of seeing these threads complaining about the removal of bpos of moduals that will no longer exist in the game. They gave you your aur back, you say its worthless but you can buy anything on the aur market with it. Do you just horde aur weapons? Why? They are meant to be used. Maybe you will say hey I like this weapon or I don't like this weapon so you can plan sp.
I would spend money on dust if I'm happy with direction or features and want to through the CCP dust team a bone for their hard work. Yes I too have bpos, but like iron wolf saber said above, if they remove basic caldari medium suits and basic assault rifles my concerns would be more about the actual suit than the aur I'm being refunded. The isk suit not the aur suit.
If you don't feel comfortable giving money to CCP then don't! Its a free ******* game numbnuts! Nobody cares that your not happy your getting a refund! So far I'm content with CCP's business practice, they have given me a free game that's very addicting and I chose to spend some money to support them in return they gave me some free suits. I don't need them to play, in fact its low teir equipment. Even if this was effecting me I wouldn't care, as a dropships pilot I need better equipment anyway. I'd use the aur refund to buy boosters and get some more sp to spend on new skills.
I am seeing the bigger picture, this is not a conspiracy. I enjoy playing this game, I enjoy the updates and when there is a good one I support ccps work, even if its only a couple bucks. Your kind needs to stop, cod players threatened death and **** to a Dev for changing a reload time by .01 seconds. They made the whole gaming community look like little entitled *****. Stop proving them right....
the point about contact nades im making is that there was no compensation given to those who bought them.... i agree they needed nerfing, i don't agree that those who paid for them didn't get any kind of refund... heres the thread i made on it:
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=101211
I tie it in to this issue because it shows a pattern of ccp being careless with our purchases.
you keep saying its a free game... my time isn't free, the aur wasn't free. the only thing ree in this game is the download, but even that isn't free because it cost memory in my ps3 (around 2 gigs i believe).
I would never threaten death over a game, those CoD PLAYERS ARE NUTS. I don't think legal action compares, since no one dies. I think the comparison is exaggerated and desperate.
I just made a thread asking the community what they think is fair compensation. many of us don't think aur is.... that's our right to believe but it doesn't make us crazy, nor should you have any need or the right to try to silence us if either don't have these bpo's or don't care. this discussion doesn't actually cause you any harm, ignore it if you don't like it, or post a counter argument... but expect to be challenged

They agreed to a legal contract stating that CCP could do this.
So would you agree with what the guy in that link is saying there? Just discontinue the aur item? Like they are doing with the bpos of the moduals they are removing? This doesnt shows a pattern of CCP being careless with aur items. The reduced the damage because of massive community outcry about a pay to win weapon that completely broke balance in dust.
Okaaay your time isn't free......I'm not going to respond to that. Look you choose what to do with your time, that's on you. You also agreed to the EULA before you played dust, and every time they patched it, that's on you. Complaining about it now is a little late, should have done that when you read it in the EULA.
xLuca Brasi wrote:the only thing ree in this game is the download, but even that isn't free because it cost memory in my ps3 (around 2 gigs i believe). hahaha! Oh you poor thing, the free game needs to be downloaded? It requires space on your hard drive? Do you want compensation for that too?
Fair enough, you aren't that crazy. I didn't didnt make that comparison out of desperation, cod players flipped out to an embarrassing point for all gamers over something as minute as a .01 second reload time change. Although its not quite as dramatic you certainly are making a huge fuss over nothing.
You will be getting your spent aur refunded, as per common sense. You don't have a right to believe you should get anything else back, you signed those rights away when you agreed to the EULA, again that's on you. And I do have a need to tell you to **** off, this stupidity is embarrising, if I worked at CCP I would despise entitled players like you.
While I don't have these specific bpos I do own bpos and even though they are useful to grind for my dropships I don't need them to play or have fun with this game. They have been and always will be a nice in game thank you from CCP because I spent money to support this game. If CCP decides to remove them then okay, give me aur back and I'll use it elsewhere. If I didn't get any form of reinbursment for them removing the aur content I bought I would contact CCP and ask for my aur refund. I wouldn't try to rally players to say f*ck you CCP everything your doing sucks and is not good enough I demand more because you trampled on my rights on their forums, because well, that's childish and very entitled.

its no wonder youre so dismissive... you don't own the bpo's the contact nades they bought were removed, and replaced with a nerfed version, with no choice to get the aur back.
you missed the part when "that guy" (who is me btw) said to remove them from market to also include a refund. in that case a refund would have been perfect because it would be aur returned for a consumable item... my item was permanent, and items like that no longer exist, so the aur I get now is worth less than the aur i had....
hiding behind a EULA is BS....the EULA is there to protect them from legal action, but EULA's don't always hold up in court. this is more about wanting to foster a relationship with ccp based on mutual respect.
don't think for a second ccp doesn't want our money... they want us to play...actions like this are bad for business, eventually they will upset you as well...EULA's wont protect ccp from empty servers....

technically what they did was legal..under the lines of the law it was not moral or good business practice and i would not recommend ever spending another penny on dust.
anything you buy with aurum in game can legally be taken away and refunded with aur..so dont buy aur..you cannot trust that ccp will not take bpo's away..they legally can do it and most likely will do it..
all i can say on the subject is this ccp removing bpo's and not giving them some other form of vehicle bpo to spend that aurum on is very bad business practice.
personally i will never ever spend another dime on dust..even if you introduce new bpo's i will not because after doing the research i have learned the lines that define this kind of virtual transaction and find that spending money in a situation like the one dust provides is a very poor choice. you are NOT PROTECTED in your purchase. |

My god you're dense.
I'm dismissive because I'm a vehicle pilot, the reason I didn't purchase those bpos is because I don't need them. If I had bought them when they were 50 aur I wouldn't have used them much, except maybe on my free lavs. I would be more excited about getting free aur. I really just don't care enough about my bpos to rage at ccp for removing them, I do care about my money being well spent so as long as I got aur back to put into other toys I'd be happy. How many times must i repeat myself? So stop trying to use scare tactics to have me agree with you. I don't care if bpos exist or not.
Why do you blame ccp for changing their game when YOU agreed they could?
The contact grenades were a bad example, everyone who bought heaps of them did so because they were extremely overpowered. Since the community was outraged ccp brought them in line with balance. The item was still there and useable, it just wasn't a instant kill crutch anymore, "oh no! I have to actually think now?! I can't just spam OHKs?! This isn't what I payed for!" Sounds much like todays swarm launcher users. Again if you support pay to win you better just leave dust now.
Of course ccp wants you to spend money on their game, this is their living! Again common sense. Of course they want people to play their game, they made it to be played and to make a living! Why is this bad business practice? That's what every company does!!! Again common sense. If they had skins and colors I could customize on my suit for aur I'd buy it! Its a nice feature in a game I like, and I can support their development!
If your really trying to foster a relation with ccp around mutual respect then your social skills suck bro. You really think ccp would respect you because of what your doing? Really?
Oh and they aren't hiding behind a EULA they asked you if you were okay with their terms and conditions before you started playing the game, and you agreed to it. You agreed to this.

I care because its a pointless thing to discuss, ccp could be spending their time reading other threads and not wondering if their playerbase is going to go all call of duty on them for changing their game.

You agreed to the EULA, exchanged your money for in game currency, and bought your bpos. CCP then made changes to their game, and for whatever reason they saw fit decided to remove a select number of bpos that conflict with the upcoming patch, they are fully refunding the aur you spent on the bpos when they remove them.
