Have the council for planetary management take a good look at each individual case for respec, and grant or deny respec. Respec's should be legal for skill tree changes and that's it. I missed the respec right after uprising launch cuz i had quit playing I was so mad with having to spend almost all my sp on opening the sever and raven, then when i got over it I came back late for the respec for it. I, along with several others have legitimate reasons for respec. Others just weren't wise spending their sp and shouldn't be allowed to respec. I've taken a good long look at every SP i've ever spent, and seeing that eyesore in my medium basic suits pi$$e$ me off!! |

There is no reason they should have to go through the mind-numbing task of reviewing respec petitions. they speak for the players, which makes it even more important for them to do it. Make em earn that tag. |

This respec thing is a very salty subject and I think it should be handled with extreme care. There has to be guidelines formed for respecs. Language that says what qualifies and what doesn't. As I said before, I hate the idea of respecs, but lets face it, sometimes they're necessary to maintain the player base. Sometimes people go innactive for a while and when they catch back up they realize that sp has been invested into a skill tree that has been changed, and they missed the window for respec for that specific change to the skill tree. It's a bitter feeling that some people aren't even gonna stick around with.. Look I got 500 buck invested in this game and I want the best for the game so I can get 2 decades (like eve) out of my 500 bucks. |

Nova Knife wrote:Like said above. Totally not our job.
While CCP likes the availability of information available to players through the API, they would simply never let any group of players have that level of control over the progression status of any others.
We have no access to any information about anyone's characters or play other than what they personally choose to give us via screenshots or whatnot. Even when the API comes out, we will never be able to see any information about any characters that isn't already public unless they share their key. Even still, we will never have control over any of that information by sheer virtue of having some orange forum tag :P
Though, I suppose I can grant your request to a degree.
The majority of the CPM is in favor of simply everyone getting a full one-time respec with the arrival of 1.7. This is not unanimous, however.
Totally understand CPM's job, and I just look at is as a union at a factory. Company does what they want and the union tries to get what's best for it's employees. I would like to reiterate my point of making dust 514 last. It's as important to me as ccp. With my 500 bucks invested in it. I really don't like the idea of a total respec. Total respec's could allow players to achieve what they wanted quicker and thus lose interest in continuing playing. I for one am spreading my sp out to enjoy all the game has to offer. The only reason I want respec is to correct a mistake that was made by ccp. proto leveling basic suits to open role specific suits. |

Regardless, it's not their job. They don't get paid for being CPM. Most of the CPM have jobs/schooling and other things going on in real life. On top of that Respecs shouldn't be a case by case thing. It should be all or none CPM's job is to speak for the players. Respecs can kill the playerbase if you're reckless with them. As I said before to the player that aspires to proto specific aspecs can do it with one respec and lose interest quicker. Likewise in my case and i'm sure with many other's I have a reason for respec, because ccp changed the skill tree. I just missed the respec window and now can't get it no matter what (believe me, I tried). |

Arc-08 wrote:one: aint nobody got time for that two: you know in EVE they have never recieved a full respec, only partial ones. and i belive that partial respecs are all we will ever get from now on. Is anyone actually reading what i'm writing? I am against respec's unless absolutely necessary. Furthermore if no one has time for the playerbase.. what's the point????????

In a game like dust where it literally takes weeks/months to "get good" in a new area, being able to re-spec yet still maintain your upwards/outwards progression allows a player to explore new aspects of the game without having to grind for all that time when they already weren't having fun anymore with their chosen skills. So, your point is correct. Re-specs are a double-edged blade. Handled poorly in either direction can lead to disaster, but done just right and it's just freaking cool :P i'm happy to hear this from a cpm member. i could do without a respec as long as they put some sort of worthwhile skill progression on the basic suits. |
