You can't deny what is happening.
Everyone is leaving, and probably a big part is because of proto stomps. Face facts, as QQ as it is for those unwilling to stomp back or to waste ISK or who can't run proto yet, your player base is dying. As New Eden as it is to say HTFU, your bottom line will be better served by keeping vets and encouraging new players to stay past the first match out of academy.
When will you address proto stomping. Say anything. Stop leaving us hanging. If you don't care, then tell us so we can move on and leave the forums like we left the game. If you realize it is a problem, there are lots of great ideas that your user base, intent on keeping dust around and fun, have contributed. For example. Maybe it could at least get the ball rolling.
Sad day for me last night, I keep wanting to give Dust another chance, but last night I finally did the big delete to save me from wasting my time anymore. Will be checking forums for release notes, but as a closed beta tester, Dust was supposed to be my last ps3 game. |

Having tried so hard to bring in friends and watching them quickly stop coming back, frustrated from going 1/20 with 2 assists and sitting at the bottom of the leaderboard every time is why I have stopped trying to bring people in.
Exactly. All except one person I referred stuck with Dust. The others all left. I almost invited a dude the other day, and then I thought hard about what it was I was giving my stamp of approval on.
P.S. The one guy that stuck with Dust (my brother) recently tried to get me to try BF4... |

Truth is right before I was accepted into closed beta, I bought a couple of games that I never even started... I guess it's time to catch up. |

I'd rather be pub stomped by a squad of adv who can actually play than a sqd of protos relying on a crutch. At least I know I am not going to have to waste all my isk to beat them, I only need to make more friends to get a good squad together. |

Oh yeah... hardcore. You have an aim bot that kills dudes in 3 shots with your OP AR. Pretty hard core. You are the definition of hardcore. I played AR for the first time since closed beta the other day, no sp into it, no experience with ADS since I am a shotgunner, AND I was using a scout suit... I was top of the charts going 14/3 10/2 etc...
New Eden is so hardcore, all you have to do is hold an AR and the game does the rest for you.
Doing my taxes myself is more hardcore than New Eden. |

Like I said, this month was redeemed by its "Everyone Get your Proto-Stomp On" SP events. But after a month of people blowing their ISK, let's see how vibrant it is, and how much more they can handle.
Dude you are CPM, the forums are yelling "Fix it!!!" and you are basically saying HTFU. You are amazing at your job. |

Let's face it... this months SP payouts were pretty huge. Triple SP, 3 top games 3x Warpoints in SP all month, and now Carnage is going to be bloody Carnage.
November was CCP pretty much paying people to keep playing Dust. |

Exactly my point. CCP is pretty much bribing people to come back. As soon as the wealth runs out, so will the Dust devotees. |

Thorgen Ra'Koldor wrote: The fact is the player counts are getting steadily lower .. having half as many people online playing the game as their were on release is a serious issue for a F2P game .. the player numbers should be higher as more and more peopel have played the game and stuck around ..the fact is DUST has one of the poorest new player experiences of any F2P game .. and it simply cannot keep hold of new players ...
Therefore the current cycle for DUST is one of new players not staying and playing the game and vets getting bored of the game .. with no new players to replace the vets who get bored or the people who decide to go play other games then the player numbers decrease ..
I find it interesting, the proto stompers say "numbers look steady to me" and they continue to proto-stomp. They don't even look at new player retention, because to a proto-stomper, their biggest cheapest thrill is owning noobs. You are right, as vets leave, the noobs getting owned by the protostomp won't stick around to fill in the gaps. right now we have 2000-3000 consistently active players... that's nothing... I've been to churches with higher attendance (4000) on a weekly basis. If people start leaving and no one fills in, you will notice it very quickly.
with so many great games out there right now, and the HUGE curve it takes to get enough sp to level the proto playing field, proto stompers will be the end of this game. |

I'm sad that this game is failing. It had so much potential...
Me too... as much raging as I am giving it, it had great moments and I still get the itch to pick it up again, it's just that I don't because I know it's not the same game anymore. It's like a bad breakup, lol.
Fact is, I've played other games that were crappy, and then I put them down and forget them. Dust is different. It was great, could have been greater still, but it went in a bad direction. |

Lol, math == your friend. It will really help you in life, or will at least make you seem smarter. for example here is one for you:
On week one, Dust 514 has an active player base of 3000 and 800 new players join. At the beginning of Week 2 Dust 514 has an active player base of 3000. How many players quit Dust in week 1?

Vinsarrow wrote: For the last time people all CCP has to do is set people with close lifetime SP in the same matches, for example a person with 10 million SP will only face people with up to 12 million SP & as low as 8 million SP, that way veterans are fighting veterans & noobs are fighting noobs....
Also people haven't totally left & if they have it's mostly due to the PS4 & then they're back on PS3 to Dust 514 in about 3 weeks max....
This is ridiculous. I have 30 mil SP and I refuse to be forced to run Proto because I can. I run Proto in PC and when I want to cost stompers money. But it is an expensive endeavor which I do not want to commit to for every match. Putting me with groups of people of the same SP level but not eliminating proto stomps means you are telling players, "Have fun while you can because eventually you will be in proto land and then you will lose all your ISK if you don't have a backer corp." All you are doing is delaying the amount of time before they get sick of protostomping. |

This was the whole reason I picked up Dust. It's the whole idea that makes Dust unique and amazing. Until, of course, they put more emphasis on fast pace and less on MMO. Which is now the reason I have put it down.

It's a gift and a curse.
The SP system doesn't drive people away, getting repeatedly owned by proto weapons and suits drives people away.
The SP system is the best thing Dust has going for it. |
