Hi everyone, I just started playing Dust and don't get me wrong I like the game. I just feel like it's to long of a game. Does anyone feel this way? |

well to put it simply, from the day you start to the the day you quit you will be able to constantly evolve your play.
it doesn't take too long, it just never ends.
sometimes your play style will be up,, some times it will be down. eventually if you are like me and alot of vets, you'll simply be able to do what ever you want, and you will need to change it constantly.
if you play for 4 months and enjoy it, then why say it took to long. |

DustGrind514 is grinding sort of game. It will take you 3-5 months of playing to get on the level of gear of the proto stompers.

  Individual battles take too long?
Or "finishing" the game takes too long?
Or getting to a reasonable level of proficiency takes too long?

If by too long, you mean never ending, then yes. Yes it is.
It will take you a while to be competitive once you leave the academy, most likely, but if you have any amount of patience, persistence, and dedication, you have the chance to go far, for a long while. |

This is by design though. The game developers want you to invest heavily in the game because they know that if you do you will be more committed. You can invest financially by buying Aurum, or with time.
You might think that this is only good for the developers and not for the players, but actually I find that the investment and commitment actually enhance the gameplay experience.
The other thing that really improves Dust is joining a good corporation.
Once you've built your skills & joined a corp, you'll be hooked :-)

What do you mean too long? You mean that by being able to actually FINISH playing the game through it's entirety? That's never going to happen. Dust is following Eve Online's footsteps. There are players in Eve Online who have been playing since 2003 and none of them have found an end game.
CCP, thank you for hotfixing the knives. But please make sure they're at their full potential in 1.7.

If Dust's still around in 10 years (like EVE), you'll have a massive head start compared to those that joined later. All you have to do is not erase your character. |
