I'd love to see the temperate structures make an appearance with the intent that eventually they would allow for defense or extermination contracts from pilots. It would be slick to see a contract pop up from Rees Noturana of the Red Rock Mining Company to eliminate the Angel invaders that have taken over Command Center 9F-1P2 on Eram II. 10 million ISK to regain control so that the pilot can resume operations. This would strengthen the bridge between EVE and DUST. There are many structures to choose from that could be implemented over time:
- Command Center
- Launchpad
- Storage Facility
- Extractor Control Unit
- Extractor Head Unit
- Basic Industry Facility
- Advanced Industry Facility
- High-Tech Industry Facility
A colony is connected by links that are generally tens of kilometers long so each structure would be a large socket but they could all share a command SI set. There is already an interesting model within the EVE client that represents the structure which could provide inspiration although it'll need to be updated for FPS gameplay.
This idea is very intriguing. I hope that this is already in the works because "WOW" if it is. To see this come to life would truly be impressive.
Making this type of experience accessible to the average DUST player may become difficult. So I think that it would be quite interesting if there could be some sort of neutral version of these types of infrastructures being implemented periodically. Maybe they won't bring as much resources to the contracting EVE pilots as the ones that they personally construct, but can be bought through a gamble: that is, by issuing contracts that are cheap and affordable for EVE pilots, but also very beneficial for the mercenaries that are brought into these contracts to try to take the land over for the capsuleer's benefit. Keep the cost of risk low for the EVE player, and allow the winner to make some extra money for as long as the spot will generate for them. This would also allow for "bridges to be gapped," because EVE Pilots may favor certain corporations, and can maybe even pick and choose which corporations to fight on their behalf for these types of matches.
Say a corporation doesn't quite fill an entire roster. Then a public notice may go on instant alert in the battle finder for DUST mercenaries so that slots can be filled for a particular battle. TCO's in DUST may also ferry in some extra ringers that will be able to help out as well, so inter-corporation co-operation can become even more of a normality within DUST. The idea will benefit both EVE players and Dust players. EVE players may be introduced to a new type of avenue for profits, while DUST players can deploy their corporations with little to no risk. The contracts should be able to make profits for the mercenaries, even if they deploy using prototype gear, but without too many deaths.
So if this were an actual prospect then what kind of numbers do yall think you can deal with as far as gambling? And what kind of revenue rates would you like to see from these infrastructures if you were able to fund contracts to take them over?
There definitely has to be a finite amount of these, "Neutral" infrastructures. But to make things fair and balanced, maybe the duration that you can earn minerals and noble gases should be limited to a certain amount of time before it goes neutral again and then the process would start over, possibly with new EVE pilots offering the contracts so that they could give it a go. For the infrastructures that are personally build from the ground up by our EVE Online brethren, then it would be obvious to allow them the ability to try and defend their facilities indefinitely.
This ^^ idea, again would be separate "Neutral zones" from your own personal structures, but would be implemented to make sure that other DUST players that want to get in on the action can actually find matches like this.
It also might even give some of yall pilots more of a reason to fly in with some budget warbarge ships for orbital support. I wanna see some more pulse laser cannons and EMP strikes! lol I had some fun with these just the other day because one of yall had it goin on up there. Good stuff. |
