After all the recoil and kick I saw watching this to offset that sweet reload speed and increased damage and most especially how once you overheat you can basically shoot off the whole rest of the clip as the overheat lasts less than a second and then the cooldown actually fights the overheat function to complete the cooldown and you have volley off the whole rest of the clip no worries.
I realized it's most def not at all a crutch weapon with tons of reward with some huge drawbacks.
I wonder do some people just overheat the weapon in anticipation of a fight so they can use that OP cooldown mechanic to win fights the SCR wouldn't otherwise? So much difficulty!
So don't nerf this gun CCP. |

The drawbacks are pretty huge for level 1 SCR, but the proto level as well as used on Amarr Assault negates the drawbacks almost entirely.
Pretty much the strength of the weapon is having insane DPS, but only for a very short time. Skills that increase that short time are what is breaking the weapon and making it OP.
Its versatile as it can be used at short, medium and long ranges with quite a bit of effectiveness. The skills that are decreasing cooldown time and decreasing heat build up probably need to be toned down quite a bit, as right now a amarr assault with maxed out SCR skills can just spray and pray from the hip and deal massive dps with little worries of overheating.
Not only that, but the calculated DPS on that thing is questionable. With maxed out skills and triple damage mods it can deal close to[(705.88/60)*(79.2 *0.4 +79.2)] 1300 dps for a couple second of sustained fire, while the AR, which most people claim is OP, can only deal a maximum of [(750/60)*(37.4*0.4 +37.4) 654 dps for about 5 seconds of sustained fire with maxed out skills and triple dmg mods.
I admit the SCR does take a considerable amount of skill to operate at max potential compared to the AR, what most people don't realize is with maxed out skills, triple dmg mods and a turbo controller, the Imperial SCR is the pinnacle of EZ mode. Not saying all SCR users have a turbo controller, but it makes it possible for turbo controller users to achieve max dps without really trying, not to mention max DPS on that thing is Godly.

It's OP!!!!!!!!
@ Arirana
You're on the right track but when you assert it's for a short amount of time I disagree. The linked video demonstrates him overheating the gun (this is a non amarr assault) and then wasting the rest of the clip afte a 1 sec "cooldown" and then the cooldown mechanic is so OP that for the time it's in cooldown you can pump out the whole rest fo the clip...and then the reload is smaller!. Aren't the fitting requirements also lower than the duvolle?

I don't get it. My scrambler rifle certainly can't shoot a mere second after overheating. Is there some glitch I'm not aware of? I don't have time to watch the whole movie clip to find an example of this right now.
The fitting requirements, though, are not lower than the duvolle. Only the heavy weapons have higher fitting requirements than the scrambler rifle. |

Watch the video it's linked to the 4:50 sec marker as the guy kills the first guy and then overheats as he is shooting at the 2nd behind the objective.

Yeah, he uses a glitch to get out of the overheat, i noticed it on the video but never gave it much thought until someone else brought it up as an actual glitch that you can abuse.
Ive personally never used it outside of verifying that the glitch can be reproduced, i prefer to die when i overheat then to resort to cheating. But i do remember fighting people that for no apparant reason ducked during a shootout, at the time i lolled at it thinking "dafuq hes doing" and offed the guy.
Will be awesome when the glitch is fixed, stuff like that should be hotfixed.

Except of course there was only really a select few that were doing it successfully, and it was a glitch where you ran around in a paper thin suit getting scanned 24/7 with an effective range of 1m. This one will get attention quicker

This video showcases a glitch being exploited - not the actual state of the scrambler rifle. This particular glitch breaks the weapon to a ludicrous extent, allowing you to basically ignore the overheat on a weapon where the overheat is the balancing mechanic.

I got plenty of kills with it instead of going for a reload when it was still available.
