Currently it is widely acknowledged that Logistics suits are far superior to assaults at performing the front-line aggressor role. This thread is intending to address that issue by buffing the assault suits abilities to perform its role, rather than nerfing logistics suits.
Changes to the slot layout of the assault suits: None (these are fine though a tad more CPU or PG would allow the suits to fit more aggressive modules and provide a larger range of high end fitting options.
Changes to the assault skill bonses: Rework this skill to be +1% to weapon damage per level. The current general skill bonus provides a boost to shield recharge rate which while useful for the shield tanking suits is about as good as no bonus at all for the armor tanking ones. A switch to a damage bonus for this suit would give it added killing power over the logi thus pushing it to be used more by aggressive players. --It should be noted that this change was originally suggested by KAGEHOSHI Horned Wolf
Changes to the racial assault skill bonses: Amarr - No change to the bonus. It works great as is.
Caldar - Option 1: +5% more optimal range per level (this would come out as being +2.5% at the high end of the optimal and +2.5% at the low end of the optimal giving it a broader kill zone per level).
Minmatar - +5% magazine capacity for projectile weapons per level (the side-arm bonus would be much neater in the hands of a scout) which would boost mag size for the flaylock, massdriver, SMG and the battle rifle
Gallente - +3% Rate of Fire on all blaster weapons per level. This would increase the ROF on a standard AR to 862.5 RPM at level 5 Gallente Assualt.
The Gallente bonus might seem over powered but I'm also proposing a change to the way barrel climb works on all projectile weapons with a (damage per round x .01)-¦ meaning that a duvolle would climb 21-¦ when firing the whole mag non-stop. This change should effect all weapons as it would add to fun/skill involved in shooting. This should be implemented with my much earlier suggestion of linking barrel sway to % of stamina remaining.
I will repost the suggested changes to barrel climb separately since I think this ideas is worthy of the communities attention in a thread devoted entirely to this topic.

Good point. I am removing the initial paragraph of my OP to distance this idea from the whole anti-logi QQ.

You think so? Even when combined with the barrel climb suggestion (see the bottom of the post). Having barrel climb work like that would mean at max level you would get 4.8-¦ of barrel climb per second (which is only 14 rounds fired by the way) from a standard AR. If you don't think that would be enough of a counter to the increased ROF it can definitely be tuned down.

I hear what you are saying but Eve gives this kind of bonus on its ships (ie same reacial weapon type as the ship gets a bonus) so this would support the same mechanic.
