Teams could really benefit from a commander role in serious matches. This role would be responsible for all orbitals, team orders( different from squad orders), and map overview. They never fire a shot, but they do get a cut of ISK if their team wins. Perhaps they could see all of the intel from scans, an overhead map view, and coordinate with EVE pilots for orbitals. If dust is the tactical FPS we want it to be, a commander mode should be implemented.

Obviously this depends upon TEAM DEPLOY. I know exactly what you mean as I have had to deal with those mindless f*cks on quite a regular basis. My tank seems to have become a great place to AFK for them.

Yup I don't even fight anymore. My growing depression is due to their lack of sentience.... will not fight for the Amarr until my actions matter or the idiots are systematically destroyed somehow....

I grief them on a regular basis once we are redlined. Almost as if I am rewarding them for being so horrible. It doesn't help when ultra marine is regularly sending in LAVs to suicide kill my tank

Dirty Ultramarines disgracing the name of the God Emperor of Mankind....!
Sure why not its not like I enjoy the game anymore, I wouldn't mind hunting some Minnie tanks and blapping to idiot blue dots.
However as long as I am in PIE Inc I would besmirch their honour, or their laws, so I may have to drop corp finally.

Sounds good. As long as we are popping some matari scum tanks I see no problems.

Good idea. Actually, here are some ideas from different people what else that commander mode include:

Please go have a look.
Feeling the scanner is too simple and off balance?

Scanners would be an awesome intel source that would evolve the commanders vision.
Speaking of scanners, you pretty much nailed it on your signature thread.

It would be interesting if scouts were connected to the commander, as in Commanders could visually see what the scouts sees and it would also be interesting if scouts were able to paint the orbitals for the commander to use

Would be also nice if the commander had more options than just precision strike. Like being able to call in drop-turrets, order an orbital scan and other useful things to help his team.
For some reason I imagine the commanders gameplay to be more akin to that of RTS games, the first one that comes to mind being Tom ClancyGÇÖs EndWar, using Command Points (CP) to determine many of these options
Wiki EndWar articel wrote:Command Points are also used to call in airstrikes, force recon and electronic warfare, the three kinds of offmap support. Command Points regenerate at a rate of around one point for every 30 seconds and are also gained for killing enemy units, the player gains a bonus of four Command Points for capturing an uplink. Of course, Dust 514 would have other options, as well as the commander not having to buy units like in EndWar.

With all of the intel available in today's gameplay, the role of the commander would grow evermore powerful. Installations would be an incredible asset.

Even if we only started with a simple commander mode, able to issue orders to squads and control off map support, I think it could lead to some vast improvements in FW and PC.
