This might be the most idiotic logic I have ever seen in DUST 514.
We all know being a Heavy works better with an AR or SCR, as the HMG is complete garbage.
Now, the Shotgun does kill people faster at close range than a HMG, but like always, Heavies are being killed mostly because people just have to stand back when shooting them. So why use a gun that has even less range than an HMG?
When I first saw it, I thought it was some guy just goofing off, but now I see it in every game... and every game they get annihilated.
I'm really starting to think Heavy users aren't to bright anymore. Take away the most OP setup in the game and they have nothing to fall back on it seems. Darn shame. |

I sometimes goof around with my Dren sentinel using a Dren shotgun. It requires a LAV and you will die, but drive into a group of red dots and hop out of the LAV chucking grenades and blasting away with the shotgun used to be able to net you a good 4 or 5 kills before you went down, however, I haven't tried it since 1.6 so I don't know if it works or is fun anymore. |

i used to do it back in chrome going 27/3 and similar scores
i used to use it city maps by alternating between uplink scout shottys and the heavy shottys, its basically just get up close in a good position to the enemy, right around a corner with your uplink, then reck em by spawning up close and personal with your tanked heavy, while retreating and waiting behind a corner for multiple enemies to get the jump on em and slay 2 or 3 at a time. then by retreating to a supply depot with either your scout or heavy you can ambush them by alternating to the other, switch to a scout and suddenly your behind them, switch to a heavy and suddenly youre the most dangerous possible in your face dropsuit. |

Saw a heavy with a sniper rifle on Skim Juncion at the top left corner of I-18, behind a building poking his head out facing the inner building, when we had redlined the enemy, looking at the flat wall of the city - again with ALL THE ENEMIES REDLINED. He as actively looking for targets WITH AN ENTIRE COMPLEX blocking his view of the reddots that were about 600 meters away.

I'm running this fit a bit right now because I wanted to give the Shotty a try, but was dead before I could get a shot off in a scout suit. If there's a big fight in a tight space, and a drop uplink nearby enough to get into the fray before it's resolved, it turns out to be a very effective (and fun) fit.
When effectiveness and fun conflict, I always choose fun.
RDVs are a failed experiment - can't we just remove them from the game?
