Regarding a boss in Final Fantasy 11:
[5:53:12 PM] Aeon Amadi: - Absolute Virtue is notorious for being the longest running NM that remained undefeated by players through legitimate means. This added to the unpopularity of the development team at the time, because any method deemed unacceptable by them would be removed from the game.
- The methods to curb Absolute Virtue's difficulty were officially revealed when the development team released a video with hints on how to defeat it in 2008, nearly 3 years after the battle was introduced. However, the video was heavily criticized for being too vague and not providing adequate hints on how to defeat the monster.
- Absolute Virtue had, on several occasions, been fought and held by linkshells for over 30 hours trying to defeat it, to no avail.

And when I say "Installation Based AI" I mean this sort of occurrence (shot out of a dropship)
This isn't to say that installation AI is hyberbolically broken and that it's always doing this but damn when it does is it scary...
... I weep at the thought of quad-forge drones pulling this off...

I LOVE where this thread is going.
Nothing like a seemingly impossible challenge. We seriously need something astoundingly difficult like this though, if it's one thing we've all learned from Dark Souls and Demons Souls, it's that when faced with extreme adversity gamers will make it their sole mission to prove the world wrong.
But bigger question is... Who's going to be the one that fires that one shot that really makes the difference? Who's the lucky bastard with the Thale's or Gastun's that launches that last, fateful round that sets the course of history?

If we learned anything from Dark Souls it's that assholes, metagamers, and hackers love to set up PVP shop right in the noob bin. Wonder how much more that game would've grown if they had disabled Burg PvP...
Also, the legs could regenerate, but not from 0 to 100. Slowly, overtime, and once all are disabled the core falls to the ground permanently for Endgame.

Interesting concept, make damage mean something, as it is beind destroyed it starts functioning more "erratically" also allow explosives to "Rock" turret aiming. Definitely imaginative if not practical.
Die hard Demon Souls/Dark Souls fanatic. Only item I'm missing from Demon's is foe ring (on NG++++) and platinum'd Dark Souls on NG++ |

Side note: This would be an -awesome- event if said drone were taking over the remains of the Shigeru titan that crashed into Caldari Prime with open ending. If Dusters win, we get fancy commendations - if drone wins, drone titan in high sec!!!

I think a heavily defended installation would suit this better. Make it have dozens of powerful turrets and drones spawning from inside and the mission is to infiltrate it and destroy it.

And as a long range, motor weapon, it launches a swarm of mixed grenades. You THINK you're being sneaky with that tank until 100 grenades of fluxes, cores, and AV nades rain down on your head.
This sort of weapon would also prevent players from trying to fortify an area with equipment. |

Why should there be the 'ultimate pve experience' in a pvp game that doesn't even have a speck of pve in it (unless you call fighting rubber banding pve). |

People had to fight that bastard in shifts because he had so many forms. Then everyone got wiped because he spit off into multiple monsters that used astral flow. SE nor the FFXI development team ever recovered from this blunder of a HNM.

We could try this in a pc... 6v16, all vehicles on team A, no av weaponry, no explosives, and no nades.
Team a would have 2 Lav's, being methanas with hardener and no repper.
Tank or 2, having no shield booster, no armor rep, no hardener, only shield regens and extenders, plates and dmg mods.
Sound like fun?

Drone infested Titan
- EVE players have to try to disable its weaponry to land Mercs onto it. They only have a set period of time before the weapons regenerate.
- Once on board, Mercs have to fight through the different sections of the ship to get to the main hive.
- Mercs must guard all flanks as drones will flank and set up mobile hives to box them
- Drones can incorporate salvaged weaponry onto themselves thus increasing their power and adds a risk element to using certain suits/weapons
- EVE pilots can EMP bombard the Titan to disable drones for a couple seconds but have to be close range to do so
