I'm betting the reason we have no more Heavy weapons is because the current design methodology is based around roles.
If you have the HMG which is designed for infantry, and the Forge Gun which is designed for vehicles, what other roles are there to fill?
I'd imagine that leads to a lot of circular discussions and difficulty in coming up with workable ideas.

But that's what I'm saying. They seem not to want to follow the same methodology as Light weapons, but that's what's getting them into this trap, if that's what the issue is.
