I did some quick maths
For the turret skills to level 5 for 1 turret = 7,462,080
For all 3 large turrets is 21mil
For the other 3 small turrets is 21mil again
Rough maths i did quickly
For the actual hulls and mods that i wanted for my tank i also put to level 5
This included all vehicles and access to them all for level 1 or whatever the level was required to get into them for both armor and shield vehicles
15,633,520 SP
Currently my 18mil SP into vehicles will cover the mods and the hulls and the cores i want to 5 but not much into the turrets
The turret to perfect cost 7mil SP each to fully cover it seems
A choice has to be made on what you really want and need it seems
Disclaimer - rough maths i quickly did i maybe out by a little bit but atm the turrets are a big sink, the hull and mods you need you can access

There not a sink they're simply adding complexity plus you don't have to skill in to certain skills. It all comes down to the effectiveness of a skill for example if reload speed turns out to be very important then people will skill in to the turret reload skills. This is a skill sink from 1.6 yes but a lot of these features have been planned since before 1.5. I see the new skill tree as being more complex with many more options, in Chromosome about 10 mill sp would get you a fully fit Sagaris with every related skill level 5. Now by spending more skill points in the skill tree you can get a better all around improved vehicle.

How they could justify not offering a respec is outside my ability to comprehend right now, just look at those skills, and that's just assuming no changes to dropsuit skills.
Raaaaaaaaaaaaaa too much pressure. Even without it I'm still technically fine, sort of, but my fits right now and skills trained for said fits don't match what's good in 1.7, basically at all.

You'll be refunded for any vehicle skills they're changing and more Dev blogs are being released in the near future (this week) so you can't jump to conclusion about what's happening with our skill points. Look forward to more information.

How can they not revamp the dropsuit skill tree in this way? Imagine how awesome that would be.
Spec into medium dropsuits - get access to "basic medium" of all races, and then specialize. Would actually like to see a dev blog on this and ETA.

My 18-20mil SP now gives me access to all vehicles and all mods with majoirty being at level 5 except some vehicles
Now my full 31mil SP will gives me access to all vehicles and fully max out a turret
For everything and i means everything it could be closer to 60mil SP perhaps even more
Thats total is sorta based on what i want, i left out a couple of things as optional since they push it up
The turrets themseleves are a bit of a sink but mostly due to the prof and optimization
With this tree its more or less pick and choose what you want and wisely |

I know I can't jump to conclusions which is why my brain is currently resting in a puddle on the floor.

What CCP has done earlier is if the actuall skill cost is changed of a skill, you will be refunded. If the stats or equipment are changed you might not be refunded at all.
Dont know what is going to happen now though.

Meh it just means you can't be a tanker with everything.
Like dropsuits before you it makes sense to specialize first. You can't be a gallante tank, with all 6 turrets AND every mod of the bat.
If you ask me they have fixed it like this, so I would imagine a vehicle respec, that you can only spend in vehicles!

All it is doing is limiting how flexible a tanker can be.
If you don't have 20 million SP into tanks, then you can only field one type, one turret. You will not be able to adapt at all.
Sounds like fun.
Oh well, I really hope infantry likes getting missiled to death, because it is what everyone is going to spec into first.
CCP must have crunched the numbers and realized that tankers had stopped buying boosters.
