Change the setting on the controller sensitivity it can make lining up for a head shot easier...... turn them down to about 50% until you get used to it then move it back up over time.....seemed to work for me......I snipe and it gives more control

Meh. Makes little difference in the hands of someone skilled.
The difference is simply that... he who can aim near perfection with a controller took the long time to learn how. People do it in different ways, but I always preferred the double stick movement since my hand to eye coordination is superb. (For those that don't know, it's when you use the right stick for the bulk aim and the left for the fine-tune.) The mouse? Well, the mouse is a lot easier to use for fine aim. Doesn't take as long to do.
Note: I was on PC before console, so I do realize what I'm saying. My specialty is mid to long range combat and the controller is nowhere as easy as the mouse for that.

makes a big difference for sniping as you can not use the left stick to aim its all on the right stick, unless your shooting from the hip... so it does make quite a big difference skilled or not.... but for any other weapon I do what you do... use the left and right stick to aim
if you wanna go pro sniper use a mouse as you never move around much.... everything else, stick with the pad its so much more fun

Forget the dinky controller. Get a Frag FX Shark. Barring that go for a mouse.

That's true to a degree. You are still able to fire during the sway when first aiming, though it's far more difficult to actually use that (as that is what I do). The chances of failing the shot during the sway is significant, as anything could go wrong.
But for holding still for the steady aim? Yes, you cannot use the left, which makes the mouse and keyboard superior for the people that do that. I do have one thing to say though about keyboard and mouse that just may shock some people. The keyboard and mouse is being held back tremendously. No, it's not just the lack of raw input (which is essential for those of us that play or have played PC FPS). The keybindings. They need to be able to be adjusted by the player. First time I plugged in the keyboard for Dust 514, I fumbled to find the grenade key. I quickly discarded the keyboard and mouse after that.

What are you views on the wand Move Thingy and the mouse...... you know that stick thing that has all the buttons on, I thought that could be quite good as all the buttons are there for the left hand????

They allowed it in Killzone 3. That thing, in proper hands, is worse than keyboard and mouse with raw input. The only error that it makes is if the person using it makes a mistake. People think keyboard and mouse with raw input would ruin Dust 514. They clearly have never seen the Move being used with no restriction. I hope they don't ever allow that monstrosity to reach its potential.
Added note: It's the most frightening thing to be used against you, but it is the most delightful to use. You are the gun.

I thought about that along with the rifle that you mount it on. Then I thought about how your arms will get tired, you'll miss your shots and you can't really sit back and chill while you play. I did the rifle holding in the Marines. I don't need to do that anymore for enjoyment.

It's up to you, I prefer the controller so I have tweaked the controller sensitivity a bit to suit my liking, I suggest testing out different sensitivitys if you don't want to go KB/M
