Because people cried that the SCR is a laser and should be longer ranged than a blaster weapon, despite the way that the SCR is superior to the TAR in most ways already.
Perhaps move to the rail rifle if you don't like the SCR.
EDIT: Really I'd like to see the TAR as a shorter range, higher damage weapon compared to the SCR.
Some people think that it should be inferior, but I think it would be much better if every weapon and variant had its own role.

Because, for some reason, variants of weapons should be bad in all situations.
Madness is the emergency exit. You can just step outside, and close the door on all those dreadful things that happened.

Because Gallente gets the Best Fully Automatic rifle while our other variants aren't the best in the category.
Same with other races but Vice Versa they won't have the best best (term is subjective really) but they will have the best rifle that they specialize in.
Well, after CCP balances the numbers out anyway. |

Because there are four kinds of rifles. If the Tactical Blaster Rifle is too good, then there wouldn't be any point in using the Scrambler Rifle. If you want to use the Tactical Rifle to its fullest extent, then skill into Scramblers.

Except that the Scrambler Rifle is better than the TAR already. I will only agree with this if the Assault Scrambler Rifle is nerfed too.

Yeah that's definitely the ballpark that it should be man and Gallente should be second place in Bust Rifles, a very close third in breach and last in Tact Rifles.
Amarr would be best at...whatever they are...anyway they'd be 3rd in assault while last in burst.
Minmatar, First in combat rifle, second in fully automatic, third in breach and last in Tactical.
Caldari are the same as amarr, idk what the base is but they'd be third in burst while last in assault.
Of course personal preference would skew the placements quite a but but you get the idea I'm trying to send. |

Each race has its own weapons style and traits.
caldari use long range low-mid damage rail - snipers
gallente use high damage short range - shotgun
minmatar use fast firing low damage/high dps weapons - hmg/smg
amarr use long range mid-high damage - lasers
obv they have their other alternates too but they are superior in one type than the other. the gallente tac rifle will have similar ranges to the caldari rail riles but caldari are better long range. minmatar may have a shotgun but it will be fast firing low damage but not as much as the damage as the best of the bunch gallente |

I've used both. TARs have a 15m range advantage and a scope, so they fit my niche better.
