We can assume somewhat that humanity originated from another galaxy, and planet which we somewhat refer to as Terra.
We used a massive natural wormhole the EVE gate to arrive in New Eden. We did originate from another galaxy. Specifically the Milky Way. The Amarr descended from Catholics. The Gallente from the French. The Caldari from either the Chinese or Japanese. The Minmatar... I don't know. NOOOOOO! I demand a refund! I am not Japanese! I can see how the theology may derive from the various earthly places, but if you have proof that my character is Chinese, show me please. Not being rude, just thinking
There's nothing solid on that, Meeko.
The rough cultural analogies between our world and New Eden is blurred to a degree. There is no clear direct correlation and quite pragmatically there is a significant amount of cross cultural pollination.
The Amarr have been speculated as an over the horizon evolution old either catholic, Muslim, of western fundamentalist religious organizations. Possibly it's a bit of all three. No clear ethnic link to our world.
The Gallente have been noted to have clear francophone and Western European roots. Their sub races have some clear Asian tinge.
The Caldari seem to be an interesting blend of western corporate (likely American type roots) and Asian corporate roots. The Civire seem to be noticeably more western than the other primary bloodlines but the are all connected but the strong corporate culture.
The Minmatar are an amalgam of several cultural aspects. Central European stock (Sebiestor and Thukker) and African, Pan-Pacific, and essentially a smattering of everything else.
It's key to note that making linkages between today's cultures and New Eden's is pretty squishy. The reality is that 20k years in the future concepts of our cultural and ethnic borders may not even be relevant. Remember, the Big Four in New Eden are just the ones that survived and took root...by no means were they the first or only factions in this galaxy.
